Thing is how long do let Bolton consider it before moving on , the clock is ticking.

 

I've thought this, is it in Bolton's best interests to let us sweat on it, drag it out as long as possible, and then pull out knowing it harms us. Or do they want him off their wage bill temporarily and therefore do a deal with a potential rival to fund a deal for a replacement (like Forss).

 

It'd be a much better and more exciting signing up front than I expected - DKD/McGoldrick/McAtee & Vickers looks like a promotion challenging type of forward line.

Don't mind us taking decent players off promotion rivals either...

 

It could well come down to how McAtee himself feels about it. He certainly seemed to enjoy his previous spell with us

Hope this one comes off personally I really liked McAtee when he was with us and was sad to see him go

 

Flip side - could he be the marquee, experienced striker we bring in to soften a DKD size hole.....

 

More pace? Don't you remember how he closed down keepers and defenders?!?

 

Good as DKD is, you'd still expect a side with McGoldrick, Phillips, Vickers, McAtee and possibly Russell to score a shedload of goals at this level.

 

I think it would be incredible business if we got anywhere near the money being talked and McAtee in to 'replace' him - as long as there's another body in there too.

 

There are people who aren’t keen on a 26-year-old lad who scored 15 goals in 45 appearances for us at the same level the season before last? Who scored 12 last season too. A player who is comfortable playing a variety of roles in this system, who scores all sorts of goals, and has even bagged already at Oakwell.

Who were folk expecting? Isak?

 

Agree. Theoretical situation of £5 million in for DKD. £1.5 million out on McAtee plus good centre half. The balance of the side would probably be better, and we'd have gone some way to plugging the financial hole.

 

I’d love us to sign him. Great player with a good attitude. Got goals in him. What’s not to love? I’d be surprised though

 

I'd be in the 'yes' camp on this. Thought he was a very useful player for us before, and he had a decent season last year too.

 

Depends on the context. £3 million for DKD to a club in the same division - definitely.

£5 million for DKD to the Championship with £1.5m of that reinvested in McAtee and one or two other quality additions in key positions would be excellent business.

 

I really hope we don’t lose DKD. As well as losing his goals, Mansfield are due a fair chunk of any profit we make on him

 

No they aren't. Neither club mentioned it when announcing the deal. Nothing about add ons or future interest etc.
