Anyone seen England flags on there travels more than they normally would? My daughter mentioned earlier she’d seen something on social media about people hanging flags and spraying the flag on various surfaces……..I’ve seen 4 today whilst out and about the town in places where I’d not normally see a flag
Yeah all down the A1 on overhead bridges. I don't have an issue with it but there's obviously.going to be problems as people are attaching them to public property like bridges and lampposts.. but there are strict laws on permission and safely attaching them to public property which I suspect are not being adhered to by certain overzealous people. When they get taken down I fear there will be all sorts of playing the victim and whataboutisms relating to Palestinian and Ukrainian flags. Hopefully most people will grasp the difference between displaying flags on their own property and public property
You're not allowed to fly flags inappropriately. It's the law. If you drape it or hang it...Its a criminal offence.
Theres some on the Bridge heading down to Cortonwood from Hoyland on the Dearne Valley Parkway ones a St George's flag with Barnsley FC in the middle of it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with safely displaying the flag of the country you live in. However the motivations of most of those hanging the flags are less than reasonable and wholesome.
Loads more. The sad thing is, I absolutely love our flag and our country. I'd love to see it flying from more public buildings and spaces because it's good to be proud. But the motivation of those who are currently flying it everywhere isn't about pride in our country at all, it's a show of defiance to those seeking to live here and that does nothing but harms and devalues the flag in my opinion. It turns it from a symbol of pride to a symbol of of hate. It isn't saying I'm proud of this country, it's saying "you are not welcome"
Afaik there is no laws on how you display the flag on your property (even upside down, defaced or on fine!) On public property it has to have consent from the authority and meet planning and public safety laws. Then on naval property it gets proper anal and weird about how it is flown and managed.. but I doubt that will be an issue here!!
I like them for occasions like the world cup but don't see why we need to turn into America and have them up all the time.
The mini roundabout near Morrisons has also been painted over - they clearly aren’t that arsed about the flag as they cannot even paint two red lines properly.
