Does anyone feel a little bit sorry for Sheffield Wednesday in their current predicament ?

Rob Staton strikes me as the kind of guy who would take his ball home if he was losing at 5 aside.

I mean feel free to correct me if I’m wrong :D

I think I’ve told this story a couple of times but you’re scarily accurate with this.

I was once playing in a 5 a side league in Sheffield where he was paying for a team called “Owlstalk” (original I know). We were beating them quite comfortably so one time when the ball was in play, he picked the ball up with his hands (he was playing outfield) and kicked it straight out of the cage like a big baby and subbed himself off.

Was probably about 10 years ago now so maybe he’s matured a bit since then. Still don’t like his Wednesday bias though.

Andy Giddings (particularly) and Adam Oxley are great. I’ll say that.

And both Doug (especially) and Leon are proper sound.

I remember correcting him once on Twitter/X a few years ago. He'd transcribed one of Carlos' interviews about Wednesday and said that Carlos said a certain player had "effected the game when he came on." I said "*affected, Alan." with a wink emoji. Nothing more. No abuse. He came back with the holier than thou approach telling me he knows its "effected" because he's a journo and told me I was muted. Massive bell...who can't spell.

Fúck 'em. Most massive team in the universe. They were happy when they were taking Winnall off us 'because we could' They were happy when tuna guy was throwing money at them trying to get to Premier League. Reap what you sow piggies. Send 'em down a few divisions like Jocks did with Rangers. The FL/FA haven't the balls to do that though.

Unless they've got £100k in the bank to waste on taking you to court for a liable action and you're not lying, you're ok...

agreed. The latest statement from the EFL reads very much to me like they’ll just lift all the embargoes once a new owner replaces Chansiri

Same old story. Derby got treated massively different to poor old Bury and no doubt the Fowls will get preferential treatment too.
    Massive.....

    It’s a funny old game.

I really wanted to dislike Michael Brown when he came as part of the Sky commentary for a live game a few years ago, considering the missus’ son was on the wrong end of his challenge all those years ago. But he was proper sound. I couldn’t help but like him.

But yeah. Biggs is a right whopper.

Just been looking at the outright betting odds for the Championship, Sheff Wednesday 300/1, i reckon that should be 10,000/1.

    This from the star...
The Star understands that the Wednesday workforce - from players and backroom staff to non-football employees - are expecting to receive what is owed to them on Friday. Wednesday received a hefty Premier League solidarity payment this week and it is from that windfall that the bulk of the payments are expected to be made.
Can anyone please tell me why the "prem" are bailing them out? (genuine question btw).

Every club in the championship, league 1 and league 2 receives the solidarity payments, lower amounts as you go down the leagues though.

Every club outside the Premier League gets an annual solidarity payment, unless they're in receipt of the (larger) parachute payment(s)

    Edit: What BarnsleyReds said.
