Not necessarily so , some managers rarely speak to players outside of match day , I’m not saying Hourihane is one of those but I’m reminded of training sessions in Spain I watched of Aston Villa when Martin O’Neil was in charge , he didn’t speak to any of the players only to John Robertson his assistant who did all the talking and shouting
Like I’ve said previously…..it’s on bbc sounds for everyone to catch up on. He’s openly said last night that there was a disciplinary issue with Nwakali during the off season. He didn’t go on to say what it was. That was enough for me to suggest that Nwakali hasn’t adhered to something that was asked of him.
He didn’t check in ( what ever that was)as requested to monitor fitness during the off season period but Hourihane hadn’t really played him at the end of the season anyway , so it looks like a clash of personalities
If you release him without him asking for a transfer, you are then liable to pay his full contract. Ergo, you save nothing. He might agree to go elsewhere for less if we pay a portion of his outstanding contract, but I don't see him foregoing what is contractually owed. I suspect the best we'll get, as with so many others, is to loan him out and claw back a little bit of his wages.
Depends whether he's now refusing to train/play and therefore in breach of his contract terms that would allow us to withhold payment. If I don't bother going into the office or doing anything when I'm there they'd be within their rights to sack/not pay me.
Exactly this normally. But you don't hear of many footballers being sacked without their contract being paid up.
So maybe Nawakali was going to come back, but apparently he has a bad attitude ?. And Conor is making it clear to everybody, that he doesn't want that and won't accept it. The club are taking a positive risk here by supporting Connor's ideas. So fingers crossed obviously, that it is going to work out for him/us!.
Yeah its another ridiculous situation to be honest, and maybe its the player at fault and not the club and coach/manager, this time!. But, why was he signed then in the first place ?.
I’m really not so bothered about him not being in the squad other than the financial factor of paying a presumably decent wage to someone to not play. I thought Nwalkali was seriously overrated. Played a lovely pass now and again and then mostly nothing for the rest of the game other than a few flashy moments. A good player who I get we would want to sign based on the talent but not made for league one imo.
