Hey I promise I'm not asking for pin numbers here lol.
I'm interested to know though, what everybody thinks are the best accounts these days, for the best possible extra 'interest'.
I've only got a basic current account at the moment, with no interest!.
And I think hey come on!!, I want my money to work better for me!!. :D

I'm fairly happy with my Nationwide account - they still have a branch within easy access of my house, pay me £100/year for holding a current account with them (plus another £100 for the joint account), and offer combined roadside assistance/worldwide travel insurance/mobile phone cover for significantly less than they'd cost me to buy separately.

MoneySavingExpert have a page on the best current accounts by a number of measures - switching incentive, longer term rewards/interest, or customer service; I recommend you read there before deciding what works best for you:

Always go on moneysavingexpert for this. It will list the best ones to date and explain all the ins and outs really clearly. Check both the ‘best ISAs’ and ‘best savings accounts’ to see which ones are right for you and if it’s time to switch any that you have.

I use the same mate with Nationwide.
Free travel insurance breakdown cover etc.
    Worth every penny.
But be careful with travel insurance it's changed to 31 days only.
Got caught out couple o years ago with this.

If it's going to be in there long term I'd drip it into a stocks and shares ISA every month, into a relatively low risk fund.

If you pay tax on your savings at a high rate low coupon Gilts offer a better net return as they are capital gains free when held directly.

Yeah I have a basic with Lloyds, and I've been looking at their 'Club' upgrade.
Im also with Santander and I've been looking at their 'Edge' upgrade.
What I'm looking to do is put cash in and leave it, no withdrawals for six months or even a year, hopefully.
