Tbh I see MDG about as good a full back as Williams was a CH.
(Conor thinks differently. Not sure I'd agree with him there. Maybe as a squad player.) I can't believe we let players go before getting replacements and was gobsmacked when we let Shephard and Earl go out on loan.

In fact is Williams available for loan. ?

Williams would have been perfect for the role, pace to burn, that run he made away at Swansea in the play off 2nd leg for Cauleys goal was class

MDG hasn’t got the pace to play either centre half or right back, he would be ok as back up for both positions until we can get rid of him.

 

Shame he mentioned no wingers close. Clearly means they haven't/won't go back in for the Cheltenham lad.

 

Another question is who will be captain..
It needs to be a regular so for me that's only dkd...roberts wont play full-time, is luca going?

Just me that thinks Hourihane been a bit naive in basically telling the world his set up once ogbetta is on the left. Basically teams are just going to overload our rb area on transitions as the know we will be defending as 3 with MDG slotting in as a RCB - and even from the bits I’ve seen MDG looked anything but comfortable as a RB on the Harrogate and York highlights.

 

Think we’ll play 4231 with 2 holding mids. We only have Connell and Bland so surely need another?

 

When did we let Earl out on loan ?

 

I get that D. but I didn't dimiss Bland. I'm not sure we can go to 3. Hoping someone else can fill that role when necessary. Eg Farrugia. I reckon is more than able. From what I've seen. Can play wide and is renowned as a defender.

 

Another yes man sadly. Thought things might change under him but no nothings changed. Piss poor window even if some of the expected outgoings haven't happened yet, just what does the DoF do to to justify his wages because it's not running a recruitment department well and providing head coaches with squads fit for purpose. Yet amazingly some people are prepared to give him à yet more time, the window might still have a month to run but the league starts this weekend and we've still not got a balanced fully staffed squad. Players have been allowed to leave who could have filled the gaps in the squad short term with no sign of adequate cover arriving.

 

Aye possibly P. Realise we can’t keep carrying too large a squad. Can’t believe I’m saying this as everyone knows I’m not a fan but I actually think MDG could fill in as a holding midfielder, he’d be more suited there than at full back.

 

Conor let those players go because he wasn't going to play them.Like it or not we've got to put some trust in the coach and his ideas because he seems very resolute in his thoughts on the game.
