If we dont sort our leaking defence we could be in a relegation battle. Then what would the owners do...
Conor addresses that in the Chronicle article “I really like Kyran and Corey as guys but I see them as wing-backs, the same with Barry Cotter and we’re moving away from the back five. I wish them all the best.”
Exactly. Right back shouldn’t be a difficult position to recruit for, it’s not like we’re looking for a 20 goal striker. If we’ve shifted three out surely we had targets as replacements to bring straight in? To kick off with two centre halves filling both full back positions and no back up on either side on the bench is just unforgivable.
This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I kind of like the idea of MDG as a right back if we can make sure that whoever plays right centre half has a bit of pace. I think he's got just about the right amount of tendency to foray up the pitch. Maybe it's just because I like the guy, and want him to succeed.
For the life of me I can’t see why we want to play with wingers but have offloaded anyone that resembled a target man
Unless Connell is now both a) staying and b) unknackered, what we really need is a central midfielder with mobility, endurance and bite.
Based on what evidence ?? 190 games as a CB, putting someone with pace at RCB next to him ? Firstly that's more than likely Marc Roberts so that rules out pace, secondly the reason we brought in Ogbeta is that he's very quick meaning he can get forward and back which is what conor wants ( attacking full backs) if you think MDG can get forward and provide support in an attacking sense, then my goodness. Let's be fair, we are making excuses for a pretty p*ss poor situation trying to make out playing MDG as a RB is acceptable, firmly back to good old square pegs in round holes. Beginning to think the statement in April about out of the seats attacking football will be fans leaving early out of the seats.
