I never understand this constant need to compare. Women's sports have separation from Mens for very clear and obvious reasons.

I suppose if you want to make the comparison then your wording is the issue.

Saying they are better opens a pointless debate that nobody needs or benefits from.

More accurately they are much more successful than the mens team.

I don’t want to make the comparison, that was my point.
I was making a cheap dig at the ones that do and have in the past.
Agree should have put successful than better.

it’s odd isn’t it. The idiots don’t raise similar objections about say the women’s 100m in the Olympics or I dunno 400m freestyle. Just football.

I used to like Mr. Wogan but he certainly blotted his copy book for me when commenting on technicians strike at the BBC. His comment was that he couldn't go on strike as if he did he would not get paid. It showed how out of touch he was in thinking that the employers of anyone on strike would still pay them even though they deliberately withdrew their "labour".

Given the fact that his earnings were probably at least 100 times that of the strikers also meant that he could afford to miss a few pay days better that the technicians.

Just desperate to stay relative. I actually sometimes wonder if he believes the tripe he comes out with. Or is it just clinging on to fame and publicity?

Sometimes Tennis, but with the Slams they play along side each other and different amounts of sets. So i can at least understand where that comes from a little.

Its as absurd as saying a lightweight would lose to a heavyweight in boxing.

I think it's a great sporting achievement and I'm chuffed for em' but not being that bothered about women's sport in general. Felt a bit hollow that it wasn't the men. I do feel if the men win something there'd be more of a national euphoria. That's not taking anything away from a magnificent achievement but I do know plenty of women that would enjoy a mens victory more.

Nothing wrong with admitting that I'd say. I'm exactly the same, haven't watched a minute of the womes Euros. Its just not for me. Still very pleased for them and never for a moment have I felt the need to try and pull them down.
