Gaza death toll since dawn rises to 41 Israel continues to pound the Gaza Strip. Medical sources told our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic that at least 41 people, including 10 aid seekers, have been killed since dawn.
"Families in Gaza are going days without food. We know that more than 100 Palestinians have died of starvation. Children are collapsing from weakness. I have begun to see mothers grind beans and animal feed to make bread for their children."
A US security guard who worked for the controversial US-backed GHF aid organisation has told Israel’s Channel 12 that “the aid centres treated the population very badly and put them in danger.” In an interview broadcast on the channel on Tuesday, he stated that the GHF system “can’t be fixed, it has to be put an end to”, adding that “if the UN had the resources and coordination that this mechanism has, it would work much better.” He criticised the indiscriminate behaviour of GHF staff and recounted an incident in which a Palestinian who was collecting food from the ground was pepper-sprayed by US security guards, despite posing no threat. He also described an incident where a GHF member of staff threw a stun grenade directly at a Palestinian woman, who collapsed and fell to the floor. “That was the moment I realised I couldn’t go on,” he said. “While the Palestinians were finishing collecting the aid that was at the site, the American security guards began shooting at them … shooting at their feet, shooting at the earthen embankments, to make them leave,” he recounted. “In all my military service, I have never seen such use of force against unarmed civilians. I will not take part in it now,” he said. In a statement, the GHF rejected the allegations and said the contractor had been fired for misconduct.
“There is no case since World War II of starvation that has been so minutely designed and controlled,” declares Alex de Waal, one of the world’s leading experts on hunger. Under the Geneva conventions, “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare is prohibited”
A 25kg bag of flour in Gaza costs £330. That's £13.20 per kg. In Asda you can currently buy a 1.5kg bag for 0.75p or just 50p per kg.
The terrorism arrest of a man for holding up a Private Eye cartoon during a protest at the weekend was “mind-boggling”, the magazine’s editor, Ian Hislop, has said, as the retired teacher called for an apology from police. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/23/private-eye-cartoon-arrest-ian-hislop-protest
Our Government have supported Israel’s actions throughout. Don’t let Starmer, Lammy or any apologists tell you otherwise. The day after we had supposedly cut off trade with Isreal due to their actions our trade envoy to Isreal, ‘Lord’ Ian Austin was posting pictures of himself in Isreal saying he was there to agree new trade deals. Our RAF planes are constantly flying over Palestine from their base in Limassol. They know exactly what’s happening. Starmer travelled to Limassol in December & addressed the troops saying ‘we can’t tell the world what you’re doing here’ & thanked them for their efforts in what had been a really busy year. We are their second biggest allies & we do sell them weapons. If people want to pretend that it would make no difference if we stopped supporting them than so be it but I think that’s ********.
Off at a tangent I know...but The contrast between those dedicated medics (many international) in Gaza who are suffering starvation with their families and the current UK junior doctors demanding (unrealistic in the current climate) 29% payrises is striking (pun intended). Whoever we believe...the NHS stating their pay is one amount and the union stating another, theses strikes they are putting lives at risk and, without doubt ,there will be unneccesary deaths with urgent surgeries being cancelled or delayed. Many professions, like these doctors, deserve to be well rewarded, but too many nowadays see it as a route to high financial rewards rather than the vocation it once was. It is true that, the world is twisted when many footballers, as one example get paid more in a week than doctors teachers, firemen etc get paid in a year (or more). The thing is though...none of them can say they did not know what they were were signing up to. Having been trained, qualified and employed they then turn round and strike for more money 'cos it isn't fair! If it was about working conditions, understaffing, environmental and lack of resources then they woudl fully deserve support but striking for more money can only nake those things worse since limited resources would be diverted to the wage bill (notwithstanding the execss of management roles that need to be reassessed. 'Entitlement' is what is destroying society... The UK is f*ck*ed.
