Summary Pre-season friendlies behind closed doors help clubs build fitness and implement new tactics without global scrutiny. Match experiences are different without fans, providing unique advantages for trialists. Games behind closed doors have no financial gain, but they can ease economic burdens, as teams do not have to worry about stewarding or policing bills.
I don't get the point of any behind closed doors matches. You should want to play in as near as possible to usual matchday conditions. It's why I also don't get why Football players train in a morning when games never take place then.
Wasn't it Floyd Mayweather who regularly trained late at night to condition the body for his fights. Makes sense I suppose.
