Last one The Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Women You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' - The Righteous Brothers "Time is Tight" - Booker T and The MG's Lay Lady Lay - Bob Dylan and the BIG hit from '69 What a year: Barnsley FC finished 10th in Div. 3 Although with living elsewhere I can't recall seeing any games that year - well, not involving BFC.
Aww yeah Booker T lol, didn't he go on to be a Wwf wrestler. And didn't Bob Dylan annoy his audience that year, by turning up late for a summer concert. And he did eventually sing, Lay lady lay.
Yeah uncle Mick lol, I also remember the warm milk thing in the mid-late 70s. It would have helped putting it in a little fridge though, because milk has got to be chilled. Otherwise there's no point!.
So Wuzzer kid lol, is the 64 in your Id name, the year you were born ?. I've always meant to ask you that, but I keep forgetting.
Hey One F, yeah there's nowt wrong with living in Hull lol. And I'm glad you mentioned the Clearwater revival, did you see this thread I did about them on here, some time ago. And I appreciate you adding all those music vids, from the year of '69, yeah keep em coming ehh. https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/the-clearwater-revival.328088/#post-3245179
So you and uncle Mick, are 7 years older than me ehh, Wuzzer lad lol. I was born in Jun '71, and goodness me ehh, where do all the years go!!.
Chuff me Acido, I was having that very discussion with a long standing friend only yesterday..... seems to have whizzed by! Even more so the older I've got.
My recollections of 1969....in no particular order Moon Landings Sugar Sugar by the Archies being played everywhere. Ann Jones won Wimbledon Teddy Kennedy's scandal at Chappaquiddick. The first flight of Concorde. Launch of QE2.
Remembered naff all for 1969 music wise without looking it up. 2 little boys at No1 ffs. 1970 onwards I took interst in music. Going tut youth clubs. I still think the 70s was the best decade. During my lifetime. So many huge bands around in those days.
Looked through that thread this morning -missed it first time round. Would loved to have seen John Fogerty at Glastonbury, but I do see clips from a lot of his recent concerts, Very underrated songwriter and his music hits a spot for me. Hull - lived there (work took me to Hull) for about 7 months late 68/early 69. My 'new friends' in Hull were League fanatics and they took me to the Boxing Day derby, Hull v Hull KR. We were in what I believe was locally called the 'threepenny stand', which was quite an experience. I'd heard foul and abusive language at soccer matches but this was on a different level - and that was just the women!! After work beer and beef sandwich at The George on Land of Green Ginger and Thursday night, locally known as Grab a Granny, at the Locarno. Just for the record I neither grabbed a granny nor was grabbed by one - don't think many understood the 'tarn' accent. Met a lot of good folk, many of them working in the trawler industry. Oh and back onto footie, went to the Hull City v Derby County match in Div 2 - had to look it up, but Hull won 1-0 and Derby were promoted to Div 1 that season.
Correct P and to evidence that most of those same bands and artists are still as big tday. look at the outpouring over Ozzy....
