Imagine if this was in town today... it would be some day out. Selfishly it's my birthday and it would have dropped perfectly!
Fair play to you for trying to defend MDG, just wish he could defend. Absolutely terrible player, just a walking mistake virtually every game.
First game against Plymouth should be interesting they conceded 3 own goals in their last friendly https://x.com/cb_pafc/status/1943695005354176664?s=46&t=WlCzRT2NfCBdm7dwjwD8Ew
I don’t dislike the lad. And thought he was decent under Collins. He didn’t really kick on last season for me though. He’d be in the gym bulking up if I was in charge. He’s so weak. And I can only assume we are on the hunt for a genuine right back. No way are they going with Maël there. Or Corey. Please, God no.
I have to agree with you. The stick MDG receives from some quarters seems, to me, ridiculous. Just shows it’s all a matter of opinion though, given that he is routinely lauded by, amongst others, the RAO people.
I fear that Hourihane just doesn’t rate him. Hardly got a chance after he took over. Another one I really like, but many on here don’t. There is only one opinion that counts of course.
Facts tend not to lie. Opinions are influenced by lots of factors. For example, I really really didn’t rate Billy Ronson, but latterly I’ve realised that his main fault was simply having had the misfortune to be Ronnie’s successor. Opinions are fine, what would be the point of the BBS without them? But they aren’t facts.
Nwakali was clearly a class act as a teenager, and he's a terrific passer of a ball. 93% passing accuracy when he made over 60 passes at Cambridge. He's also very hard to dispossess. I was hoping that Hourihane would be able to get him to run about more and "get stuck in". I don't know whether it's his character, but I suppose there must be a reason why a young player who appeared to have the world at his feet, and was signed by Arsenal at 17, hasn't had the kind of career one would have expected. I have a friend who played for Barnsley Boys and Yorkshire Boys a long time ago, and, on his first viewing of Nwakali, he said he looked a class above all the others on the pitch. Such a shame that it looks as though his undoubted talent is to be wasted.
MDG is good going forward with the ball. It's when he loses possession that causes the problem ,which he is quite consistent with doing leaving us exposed at the back. I agree with an earlier post, he needs to get in the gym and bulk up a bit.
