Lack of pace at CB worries me alot with the way we want to play, if we were planning on being solid possesion based building from the back i wouldn't be overly concerned and would hope Richard Keogh could install a good level of structure and discipline, but unfortunately you can't coach pace, Shepherd apart we've got nothing to suggest we can play the way the club and conor want.
I agree with one or two others.. we can't play a high line, high press with this crop of players. We don't have 'the legs' all over the pitch At best it's something Conor will have to work towards not implement come August.
This is why the club should keep quiet on playing styles, if we don't manage to recruit the players needed to play high press attacking football and end up with some half hearted tripe then conor will start getting stick. If they kept their mouths shut and dropped the obsession with playing styles and let conor crack on, people would I'm sure show more patience in letting him build a team and there wouldn't be a need to sack head coaches for not applying preferred playing style. If you can't align the recruitment then don't set yourself up for a fall.
Spot on. Mr Sormez declared our playing style the day we sacked Clarke and probably cost us some decent applicants who would want their own style. Still need to sack this idiot.
Conor also talked about the style he wanted to play.He mentioned the need for wingers.I understand some frustrations but its pointless blaming personel until the squads been assembled. Some clubs have made signings but theres not a shred of evidence that we had targeted any of those players. I'm excited to see who we fetch in.
We are now being linked with a move for Kilmarnock defender Lewis Mayo, he's a centre back but can also play right back
Talking of Kilmarnock. They have just signed winger Scott Tiffoney from Dundee. I think it's a loan now.
I'd be happy if this came off tbh, seen him play in a couple games, tall lad decent pace and looked good positionally, fingers crossed
Remember Rotherham last season. ?. According to one article. After the recent window. 7 haven't signed anyone. 3 have signed 1.
As of this evening, L1 clubs have announced 55 new signings between them already. I believe that just 5 clubs have made no signings, one, Cardiff, did not have a manager until this week and two, Orient and Wimbledon, were involved in the play-offs. Barnsley and Lincoln are the other two. Quite a lot of decent talent has gone from the pool in the 55 including to some of our lower mid-table rivals like Mansfield and Stevenage. However, unlike previous years, I'm totally ambivalent to our typically lack-lustre start to the window, mainly because I have no faith in Sormaz to spend whatever money Neerav's made available effectively anyway.
