The sad fact is that although he is a proven goal scorer under contract, we will almost certainly have our trousers pulled down because we don't have a clue how to get decent prices!
The kitching deal £4-4.5m was brilliant. And mads £3m wasn’t bad either for someone who had a year left on his contract.
Agreed it was the Lee and conman era that was the worse. Kieffer Moore 2.5million. Ethan pinnock 2million... clueless
Yes let Devante Cole walk for free ,when we should have cashed in in January. Don't forget lots of players have sell on clause in contracts thar we never ever see.
Didn't being the object word. You've answered yourself in effect. As someone else has said. We are not ruled by Lee and Conman. You can't force a player to sign an extension or leave. Especially when they are about to become a free agent. In a short period. What clubs save on fees can be used to pump up a players wages and/or signing on fee.
Everytime you post about these fees you knock a million off, l don't know why l respond to you - you've seen the links
Come on mate we know what the initial fees were. Similar to when they sold Brad potts for peanuts in the middle of a promotion campaign. Conman and Lee were the worst owners I've ever seen at oakwell total leeches imo I don't know why you defend them. https://www.transfermarkt.com/kieffer-moore/transfers/spieler/275590 There you go 2.7 million kieffer Moore think he had 2 year left when we sold him aswell.
You are seriously using "Transfermarkt"? Not defending anyone but if you're using false claims then someone needs to put you straight. Just Google the local rag, the player and the club they were sold to - then trust what the main BFC media reporter writes https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/16613/pinnock-moves-to-brentford https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/16856/reds-sell-moore-to-wigan If you want to look at terrible fees then look no further than John "we didn't think he was that good" Stones. £2.2m and a get out of jail card because he was sold to Man City or Ricardo "Can you believe we got him for 500k" Vaz Te, the famous line by Big Sam after the play off final.
OK so pinnock 3 million if that's to be believed which is still terrible. And kieffer Moore different sources say different my mate at the time who rarely get stuff wrong told me it was no where near 4million and he was sold days before the window shut his replacement the prolific Patrick schmidt. Liam lindsay 2.5 million sold at the same time as pinnock. So that's over 7 million in transfers. Brad potts The window before 1.5 million. Yes under Patrick's time we sold some players for poor fees but he'd put his own money in to fund it so I cut him some slack. Under those clowns it was sell sell sell brought in worse and left the club in a worse state than they got it in. Leeches.
£3m for Pinnock isn't terrible, we had got him from non-league - he's gone on to have a good top flight career but it's all hindsight. I'll believe Doug O'Kane over your mate, £4m for a journeyman, decent for Kieffer. Liam Lindsay played 23 games in two years for Stoke and was shipped off to Preston, no club after us would have got that same fee for him. Brad Potts was sold at a terrible time, luckily we scraped over the line - he's been an excellent championship player. Over £10m for that lot. I'll throw another giveaway - Carlton Morris, l think we even threw in his golf clubs
Carlton Morris was sold under Mr Lee and the clowns wasn't he? Belive what you want pinnock was brought in under crynes "spreadsheet" recruitment my 10 year old at the time could have told you he was a class above and worth more than what we sold him for. Anyway it's history and chein and conman go down as the worst owners in my time of watching the club. Always remember coman in the away end at turfmoor telling fans get ready for a big january were going to make some big signings. That window we sold Brad potts and brought in no one. Alarm bells should have been ringing then.
Morris was sold under the current board (July 22) but to be fair to them he'd probably tapped himself up back in January. We wouldn't have got much more for Pinnock, he was a centre half, 26 years old and his only EFL appearances were the 53 games he had played in with us, prior to that he had 1 season in the National League and the rest of his career in the Isthmian League Premier Division. Not many clubs would have gone above £3m for him, hence why he went to a Championship club.
If I remember rightly, it was said that Vaz Te had a £500k buy-out clause, so we had no option but to sell him for that. I presume he wouldn't have signed for us in the first place, if we hadn't agreed to that clause.
This triggered a memory lol I remember some 48 years ago whilst working at Lyons Bakery as it was then Two friends and myself went to a night club in Doncaster Whilst in the night club my two mates got chatting to two lasses, doing their best to impress the girls, they told them that they worked on the oil rigs.( in those days oil rig jobs were hard to come by and the wages at the time were out of this world) A prestige job if you could get one. Un-known to the girls I could hear every word that was and had been said. Having heard enough I went to the bar and returned with 2 pints for the lads, getting the raise of the eyes a discrete nod and a smug smile from one of the lads to say they reckoned they were well in with the girls and thought they'd pulled. On giving the lads their drinks one of the girls asked do you work on the Rigs., No I replied, Very rudely she gave a sniff of discontent looking down her nose at me. Sarcastically she continued, I suppose your one of those thick Barnsley miner's are you No actually I'm not I replied Suddenly sensing victory and an ounce of flesh, her mate jumped in, So what do you do she snapped Well one of my jobs is taking these two to work I softly replied Ugh said the first one , smugly, that's impossible , because these two work on an oil rig I know they do I said calmly, because I'm the helicopter pilot that flys them in to work everyday Needless to say my two mates didn't forgive me for weeks for ruining their chances lol
Yeah there's no way he would have signed for us without that clause. "Come and play for us, help us in the short term, and we'll put you in the shop window if you do well" The ball was in his court and he smashed it.
