congratulations Dave. Your decades long campaign for a knighthood has finally paid off. It's just a shame that those who do charity work for selfless reasons aren't rewarded as well as those who do it purely for recognition and to massage their ego's

Oh I dunno. I turned my TV off last night instead of putting into standby and keep my usage of my 6 watt led light bulbs to a minimum. David Beckham has a private jet that produces 2.5 TONNES of carbon dioxide every hour and drives a fleet of supercars.

But you're right. He's saving the planet, not folks like me and you

I do agree and on a celebrity basis Kevin sinfield should be miles ahead of him. Ran god knows how many marathons and raise massive amounts for MND and showed the world what a mate is.

Agreed. And the argument that he can't be because of the rules that he has just received an honour is stupid because he shouldn't have been given a lower honour in the first place

He will do in the next few years and rightly so. There is a difference to Beckham raising money for a couple of decades of the likes of Unicef when he doesn't have a dog in a fight, and Sinfield who has absolutely done brilliantly, but if Rob was still around like we all wished he was, he wouldn't have done any of the MND fundraising.

Beckhams been sucking up to the royals for years for a knighthood. He's eventually got it that's the difference. It's irrelevant Kevin did it for his mate. Wish I had mates like him tbh he never ran those marathons for a knighthood.

What does this have to do with anything? Only very educated people deserve recognition?

Deserves a knighthood just for being good enough to play for United

Posh Spice will be relieved, as she only stayed with her serial philanderer husband, because she would one day be able to rub ‘Lady Beckham’ into the grotesque Geri Haliwell’s face. And Beckham will be relieved, as he can now remove his nose from the royal arseholes.

Talk about who should and shouldn’t receive honours is irrelevant to me, as nobody should be receiving them. The honours system is so outdated* and is broadly a way of rewarding the establishment, with some scattered around for pop stars, footballers and members of the public, to keep the great unwashed onboard.

*We’re still linking honours to the ‘British Empire’ for starters, not something we should be particularly proud of.
