Hahahah. Yep. There is always a danger (and the same applies to Callum) that the stronger the promotion for an allegiance to a football club, the less 'passing trade' or general boxing fans will be attracted. A bit like Josh Warrington, heavy Leeds promotion and had great support..... from Leeds fans. But less so elsewhere. Minor point, and in no way would I suggest abandoning the emphasis on BFC.
I'd be surprised though if the 'over 80% sold' banner is inaccurate. I've not seen the advert again since, but some of the areas it says are sold out have just the odd single ticket in them.
It's currently 1/7 and 9/2 on Bet 365, so Simpson is heavy favourite. This dude thinks he's getting knocked out though... https://www.yardbarker.com/boxing/a..._zucco_preview_betting_tips/s1_17349_42278920
Not a chance sadly. He’d have to go and take the belts off him in his own backyard - best we can hope for is a subsequent defence of the belts. And yeah, they could have my money too if that happened.
Has anyone watched Zucco box? I’m a bit concerned now. He’s decent. A southpaw with fast hands. Callum could quite easily end up on his backside if he’s as reckless as he has been on occasions against overmatched opponents. I don’t think Simpson should be anywhere near a 1/7 favourite.
Buzzing for this event. One of the best things we did over the last few years, contacting Callum and building what we all described as a Barnsley version of what's already been seen with Warrington/Leeds, Brook/Sheffield United, Hatton/Man City. It needed Callum to be good, and he certainly is. He wins on Saturday, and in good fashion, you're looking at a world title shot within 12 months I think. I know Jeffers is gobbing off, and he's on the undercard, so maybe that 'best of Britain' clash in six months or whatever beforehand. Proud that as a club we've got behind this. Trust me, it's hard to convince all parties on stuff like this. Imagine he'd have been chinned early doors, before he even got a sniff of an Oakwell fight. And honestly, with what he had to deal with, what his family had to deal with following last year's homecoming, the lad deserves to shine on Saturday. Having Azim on the card now too, that's cracking. He's exceptional. World champ. Albeit the Mickey Mouse IBO. Just a shame I'm on holiday so having to watch on TV.
The weather forecast is pretty awful for tomorrow. Rain all day with a lightning storm in the afternoon. It doesn’t look too windy though, so hopefully the ring won’t be affected (or our seats on the ESL!). Wouldn’t fancy one of the seats on the pitch though.
We're on the pitch Forecast for Saturday evening is looking dry so fingers crossed. I thought when they announced it for early June they were pushing it a bit weather wise
Do you know, I’ve been doing this all week. I meant Saturday! I was looking forward to going to see Holly Johnson at Sheffield City Hall yesterday, having spent £63 on a ticket. I thought it was worth the expense, as I’ve never seen him perform and I’ve been a fan ever since the Frankie days. I once saw him walking down Greek Street in London, but that’s it. I was sorting out my train ticket yesterday, looked on setlist.fm to see what time his shows have been ending this tour and saw that he finished at 9:55 on Tuesday…at Sheffield City Hall! D’oh! Guess the wait to see him sing goes on. Brilliant setlist too, very annoyed with myself. I was also going to the cinema today, but found I had booked the cinema ticket for yesterday. I think last week’s bank holiday has catapulted me a day into the future. Or something.
https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/other-s...is-career-and-biggest-day-of-his-life-5162580 Mark Jeffers fight should be good. He really wants a battle of the roses with Callum to see who's the best in Britain. Be interesting to see what reaction the crowd give him knowing this. Credit to him doing a 9 mile run on his wedding morning and training on his honeymoon.
Performing? Or supporting Callum? I enjoy Yungblud’s stuff. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea on here, like.
