Unsurprisingly my message to Radio Sheffield Wednesday hosted by Rob the Owl, wasn’t read out (as per usual):- SHEFFIELD Firstly I would like to send my well wishes to all of those decent people working for Sheffield Wednesday football club that have not been paid yet. However, my take on this will probably be very different to numerous views aired tonight. Ultimately, Sheffield Wednesday football club have overspent over many years and should face the consequences. The majority of this overspending came in Chansiri’s early years in which he gambled on promotion, but regrettably for him and them, that gamble failed. From the perspective of Barnsley fan, we had a wonderful team which had been assembled fairly with diligence and within our budget. Sam Winnall was our top goal scorer if you recall. We were riding high when the January transfer window came when Sheffield Wednesday took him and offered him an over-inflated salary. Clearly this is against all concepts of sporting fairness. I recall at the time the Sheffield Wednesday supporters were lapping this up and cheering Chansiri on. You might say some were rubbing our noses in it. This is just one minor example of which there are many, and unfortunately they are now paying the price for what is and was , essentially, cheating. Chef Tyke

If Radio Sheffield was truly representative of South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire they’d see Wednesday’s woes as good news. Most football fans around here think Chansiri is doing a great job, long may he continue
Think it would only be fair for them to be relegated down to the conference and for the however they beat in the playoffs to go up originally take their place. Anyone know who they beat?
It says that they’ve got 14 days to respond. So if they pay up do they still get done? They ought to, but…..
All of this was entirely predictable. Spending fortunes on players in their peak years with no resale value. It’s a **** or bust strategy. I remember them having Winnall, Forestieri, Hooper, Rhodes, Fletcher & the giant Albanian (I think) striker all on the books at the same time for 18 months. They were only starting with two of them & the wages of the six combined were around £200,000 a week. Madness. The only surprise is that it’s taken this long for things to properly fall apart. I thought it might when they were last relegated. They might have finished 12th in the table but they were only 9 points in front of the relegation zone. It won’t take much for them to get relegated next season.
‘this is what it’s like to be big, this is what it’s like to be small, you sign no-one we signed Rhodes and Winnall Rhodes and Winnall Rhodes and Winnall’ They sang oh they sang
The club and owner have both been charged. They have broken many rules and regulations. The 14 days is to give a response to the charges. They won't pay now. It's June. Their early bird season ticket off was back in December. They are skint and have no money coming in to the club.
He likes a loan that lad though, so might find the cash from somewhere…. best thing that could happen would be they get the embargo but he also finds the money and remains in charge they would have a weak squad with a bloke in charge who is essentially being held against his will!!! would have thought they will get relegated if that happens
Problem for Rohl is that he has something like a £5m buy out clause that it’s hard to see anyone paying. I think that was what Chansiri was hoping for to keep things ticking over. Not that I’m the least bit concerned really
No it isn't. I look for Barnsley results if I'm not in attendance, followed by Spurs. If it isn't them. I don't give two f cuks. Life's also too short to be taking macabre enjoyment at someone or something else's downfall.
Local rivals + badly run football club means it's a relative subject definitely, especially seen as a number of our fanbase seem to think our owners are the devil reincarnate.
Try living amongst the deluded feckwits. Personally loving visits to my local at moment and long may it continue...
I hope they implode, personally. Do a Portsmouth and have to spend a decade in League 2. More than they deserve, with their off field antics over the last decade and a half.
A near rival from a division higher with a much higher support run by a very wealthy overseas owner yet the club is in a big financial mess. It's very relative and news worthy even to someone who is impartial. It's the non playing non coaching staff who are on a pittance compared to the players I have sympathy for.
