Went to Trent Bridge yesterday and can safely say test cricket is not for me. Absolutely bored out of my tree. Far too much fannying around, barely any excitement and even when a wicket is taken or someone hits a 4/6 there's barely a raised voice. I've seen some terrible football matches but at least they only last 2 hours.
Don't know much about history Don't know much biology But I know that Sam Cook is too pedestrian paced to be effective in test cricket… Better pitches for batting generally, better batters (though not necessarily in this game), that’s in this country too. He’d be carted all round the park in Australia. It’s all well and good getting everyone out at 20 each in the championship - where games are mostly played on more than sporting pitches in April May and September - what are you going to do against an India or Australia top six in the sunshine on a flatter pitch? I’ve not seen much to enthuse me. In fact I’m pretty worried that our best bowlers by quite a distance in this game are a not fully fit Stokes and a finger spinner who bowls two bad balls an over and can’t get in his county team.
Each to their own. Plenty of sports I don’t like. I’m going to the third day of England India at headingley next month. Can’t wait.
Imagine if we still had a peak Anderson and Broad. The game would be over and they’d be having Another Saturday Night out. What a wonderful world it would be.
