We were ****. I'm not an insider, but I'd imagine that it was to make signings who would improve the team. I doubt they instructed him to sign a completely useless striker who would struggle to make the match day squad for a laugh. Dunno, but it wasn't zero and we'd have been no worse off if he'd spent nowt in January
4 head coaches 8 home wins in 32 home games under Mladen 7 wins in 15 home games pre Mladen. Might explain why people have chalked on it, just like lots of ST holders that didn't even bother turning up last season. If we're talking budget restrictions on signings what about his loan signings then? Slonina Craig Lembikisa Lewis Rodrigues Other than DKD his transfers have been an unmitigated failure, in January we weakened a team sat 5th in the table, how the goalkeeping situation was handled was pathetic, sending Smith out on loan then unsettling Killip to then keeping Smith with injuries, poor player management. He simply isn't good enough, fans have lost trust in him to deliver.
Not sure it is hatred Brian - that is a personal emotion that implies we know him well enough to hate him. I'm guessing most of us don't know him. But as paying customers, a lot of us see him as the cause of our malaise. And are judging him by his actions (as leadership have often asked us to do).
Sormez isn't liked by a lot of our fanbase. What Sormaz has to do is bring in some good signings. Stormes can turn things around if Stromaz can get a few quality signings in.
For me it’s no that his signings were bad, it’s that he doesn’t seem to know what positions need strengthening & what type of players we need. Starting the season with one inexperienced left wing back who wasn’t ready, spending a huge chunk of our budget on central midfielders when many of them couldn’t play, not having any wingers bar Humphrys on the books & not signing a striker in January are all legitimate criticisms of him. His comments are also baffling. He’ll happily give interviews saying part of the reason Collins & Clarke were sacked was because they wouldn’t play high pressing football but you don’t have to be a genius to see that we don’t have the players to play high pressing football. We saw what happened in the last 10 games when Hourihane got the team playing higher up the pitch, we were so vulnerable. I don’t think he knows football. I’m sure he knows about contracts & has relationships with agents & people in the game but I think his football knowledge is limited at best.
I agree with most of this. I think supporters generally, not just those of BFC, fall into two distinct types. Those who criticise and gripe and those who are more phlegmatic. The former tend to be more vociferous and the latter less so. Neither is right or wrong and in the whole scheme of things it's not that important when you look at what is happening in a wider context.
This This ^^ I think part of the issue is we don't do ourselves any favours with those higher up saying we are going to play xyz way but then as you say don't recruit that type of player. Hopefully conor has a big say on recruitment then just let him crack on, teams normally find their own style and chemistry once they've gelled, providing recruitment is decent, the last thing you need is someone above who's never kicked a ball saying we're going to play this way etc, it's like false advertising, Just let conor crack on, if that's allowed then we'll be fine.
I don't know the fine details of electrical work, but if I hire an electrician to fix my wiring and then come home to find the house has burned down in an electrical fire I'd be pretty confident in saying he's not done a good job.
Clarke, and previous managers, have all said they are involved in the recruitment process. Nowhere, apart from hearsay, has it been proven that players have been foisted on managers. *** We have heard Hourihane state he will have a big say in recruitment, but it is not proven that this is more involvement than previous managers. *** I'm sure there are exceptions that prove this rule, but I am referring to the overall process.
I agree and I mentioned about the poor January window but how can we judge the guy after just over a year.? If the summer window is bad then it might be time to reassess but I won't hang him out to dry in such a short time. He's only a cog in the wheel and more people have got to come up to the plate to make it work.
For me Sormazs recruitment and strategy over the past 2 windows have been unacceptable. Outside the windows too also has to be questioned in my eyes. Appointed Feb 2024. Will have known at that point we weren't renewing the players released at the end of that season. So had chance to plan summer window Sacked Collins with 1 game to go whilst in 5th. Summer signings Successes Dkd Roberts The rest were below average and I am including Humphrys in this as he came good in last month. Jan Window Just a disaster i bet Clement Rodrigues was buzzing. Also Im sure Clarke knew exactly who he was his career highlight vid may ad well been a you tube short. It was like he was playing football manager in real life Clarke would have been sacked after Leyton Orient game for me and for me with the Data driven policy we have Clarke wasnt suited to that sort of policy again a sormaz recruit. Based on the standards he set by sacking Collins. I feel he could be a good Analyst but the level hes expected to operate at director level is less than desired. I think he has completely underperformed in his role and if I was Nareev would be asking questions and pressuring him. I am renewing because of my love for the Football club. I dont like the ownership model of the club so will only get my ticket money and that's it. I never agreed with the model when everyone was buzzing about the Ousting of Conway as for me the minority went to the majority. Different folk same objectives.
Because its his job to show he can bring in players to match his philosophy oir vice versa and based off that i dont think he has a clue. If we want an intense out of possesion approach what on earth are we doing playing a midfield of Connell, Russell and Phillips? Backed by a back 5 that are all slow. aswell as going into the season with no depth at left wing back and 1 natural centre forward how can we expect to play this way over 90 minutes? Its been proven that we can't based off conceding countless goals in transitions, failure to have a plan B late on in the game due to no outlet, wether that be a direct option up front or someone who can run with the ball (apart from humphrys who was signed as a striker, even though he isnt). The whole reason of bringing a sporting director is to provide and enable the coach to perform to the philosophy demanded and those 2 aspects couldnt be further apart imo. We seem to have focus on a philosophy route without any regards to the basics of football. A lot of technical players in a physical league which has predictably brought about wildly inconsistent results. What was worring was Neerav with the `top 4 squad comment` so those above Sormaz think about football in terms of the quality of players rather than the balance of the squad and team.
Some good points there some which I agree and some I don't but thats the great thing about football debates.I give my view and thats all if some agree thats fine if some don't agree thats fine also. I feel with all the intricacies in football I'm prepared to give Sormez,or Sormaz or Storming Norman a little more time to work with the new coach to get the show on the road,if he doesn't the board will have to reassess its strategy.
I agree, he's brilliant. You can tell by the way we've kicked on since his appointment. The players we already had have improved immeasurably, every new recruit has added to the team, results have picked up beyond any of our wildest dreams. Oh, hang on, the exact opposite is true. Some people don't half talk some right old *****. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion. And I'm entitled to say it's utter bobbins.
