Can't recommend this film enough, absolutely brilliant. Fantastic performances from Chalamet and Barbaro in particular. Chalamet is fast becoming one of my favourite actors.
Crazy that Rami Malek wins an Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury, whereas Austin Butler for Elvis and Chalomet for an uncanny Dylan didn’t. After years of complaining* whenever I had a Dylan record on, watching the film led to my daughter constantly streaming Like a Rolling Stone and my son learning it on the guitar and harmonica (attached like Dylan’s). I was hoping it would lead to the kind of obsession I’ve had for 40+ years, ever since I first heard Like a Rolling Stone on the radio and it was like a lightning bolt to the side of my head. *a few years ago, when my kids were in the habit of staking claims to things of mine that they’re having when I kick the bucket, the boy came bounding in to gabble on about something either Fortnite or Roblox related. I had a Dylan album on and once the vocals came in, the boy, mid-sentence and without missing a beat, pointed at the record player and said “she can have this”.
