Interesting that Sormaz says of the squad he largely built that its past its shelf-life. Just a tad more honesty and I'd cut him some slack. If he could have just said something like 'The squad I've put together is past its shelf-life cos players I tend to bring in are usually crap' would have been better. Alternatively, for a real empathetic response from me, he could have said 'I am actually stealing a living and conning the owner into thinking I know what Im doing'. Now I would have respected a comment like that.
Maybe I'm over thinking things, I don't disagree that we need a clear out of players that are not good enough, that's obvious to most, just feel like this is a gentle nudge in advance of selling the better players, I'm probably wrong, just a hunch.
Possibly. One never knows with spin-merchants. Whatever happens with recruitment though we'll be sold a narrative to big things up. You can bet your bottom dollar that when we sign anyone they will 'have been on our radar for a long time/someone who's progress we have admired'. Sormaz will be brilliant of course and if we sell too many decent players ( we've not got many) or buy too many crap ones it will be Hourihanes fault and he'll get sacked.
