What a great farewell message and you can’t help but know it’s genuine and heartfelt. Thanks Donovan and all the best in whatever you do.

Thank you for your efforts Donnie.

You looked class in your first few games but alas injuries and then lack of game time curtailed your progress.

Best of luck in your next move.

Brilliant bloke. Can't fault his enthusiasm or attitude. Grabbed some important goals as well. Probably not consistent enough defensively for a club looking to get back to the second tier and stay there, but I'll definitely remember him positively.

    Thank you, Barnsley, for everything.
These past two seasons have meant more to me than words can fully express. I’ve had the honor of playing for a truly special and historic club, and I’m incredibly grateful for every moment.

To my teammates, the staff, and everyone behind the scenes — thank you for believing in me and pushing me to grow, not just as a player but as a person.

To the fans — thank you for welcoming me with open arms and making Barnsley feel like home. Your love and support never went unnoticed, and I’ll carry that with me always.

It’s been a dream come true to play in England and to learn the game in a place where football means so much. I leave with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a full heart.

Wishing the club nothing but success and happiness in the future.

Does just show why you shouldn’t sign a player based on his highlight reel though!
    All the best Donny P!

Do you genuinely believe the club did that?

Nah, Pines was ok. Had limitations, and ultimately not quite good enough - but he wasn’t that bad. Worth a punt for sure. Scored some crucial goals for us. We’ve signed a lot worse than him.

Also, with the midfield offering no protection, all our defence has looked poor this season. So that’s not helped.

Right decision to not extend his contract, but the right decision to give him a shot in the first instance - remember he was signed as we were poor in the air at the back under Collins. He did solve that bit.

You can certainly see why they signed him, but he just never really developed as I’m sure everyone hoped he might. Can’t fault the lad, he was a trier, but just not good enough in the end.

No, i was just saying that from his highlight reel he looks a Rolls Royce of a defender, and as others have said despite his enthusiasm and heart, he turned out to be limited defensively.

So much for Hourihane being the first to release information about players leaving etc.

They need to get the retained list published now. They've known their position for a few weeks and what league we are going to be in.I'll bet 100 % Huddersfield make a signing before we do.This window needs to be turbocharged and no fannying around making signings in the last few days of August.

    Contracts and Player Retention

Q: Are you planning to trigger clauses for existing players like Pines and Humphrys?
There’ll be talks with players, obviously, as always. The outcome of those conversations will be kept in-house until further notice, really.

Q: So it’s not finalised yet—whatever the plan is?
It will be finalised when I speak to the players first. It’s important that the players find out before anyone else.

    This is what was said.
So, based on that he has clearly spoke to DP.

It doesn't say CH will be announcing it to be fair.

Big shame about his injury last season as he made a physical difference for us but our poor form after the Bolton draw also coincided with his absence.

He didn't say that tho did he..
He said he would let the players know first... before anything being released in the media, that was all.

Yup. Player has to know first. If the player discloses that information to media, then that’s their prerogative.

Suspect the list will come out this week at some point.

Tremendous attitude and chipped in with a few goals. I think he has a way to go, to reach the standards required in EFL, but wish him all the best.
