Imagine buying expensive tickets 12 months in advance to only see one frame last night.

I guess they put on an exhibition for the crowd.

We went to the last session of the final Covid year. We could have got a refund but even though we didn't see many frames we got to see Ronnie lift the trophy. No exhibition match though!

It's a shame that Luca and Judd meet each other now.

Firstly, it's snooker. If you're watching it live, you must be daft not to know that can happen.

Continuing, it's a risk you're taking by buying tickets for the final session. If you'd gone for the third, barring a 13-0 whitewash, that wouldn't have been the case.

You'll get a refund for 1 frame (less than 4) - should we make Headingley bigger in case people see fewer than 20 overs because it's raining, or never play a test at Old Trafford again?

The Crucible, as others have said, is the home of snooker, like Wimbledon with tennis, Lords with cricket or St Andrews with golf. They're flawed venues, but they shouldn't be replaced with a megadrome so Barry Hearn can make a bit more money.

The size adds to the pressure and atmosphere, especially in the latter stages. That's why it's the best.

Any response to the questions regarding logistics I asked yesterday?

So Luca the Belgian bullet, meets Judd the left handed bullet lol.
It's a shame when the draw works out like this, as this match could have been the Final itself. And I thought Judd's game against Murphy was a good one.
So now we're into the 3rd round, the Qtr Finals.
Sadly, Williams isn't doing well against Higgins, and maybe Wakelin's luck has run out.

Spot on about Hearn. Nothing to do with the venue. He wants more brass from Sheffield Council.

I think he’s the highest ranked Chinese player in the one year earnings list so maybe he’s to take over the mantle from Ding ?

I never said they wouldn't know the risks, I just find it amusing. I saw Ronnie lift the English Open trophy at Metrodome when he thrashed Kyren Wilson. It finished that early the Eurosport commentary team came out to do a best of 3 frames exhibition. Got to see Wembo play.....When at Cricket you see fewer overs the public get a percentage of their ticket cost back. Same at the Tennis. I was just wondering if after the one frame on both tables were done if everyone went home or something was put on for them.

As for your earlier points, if a new Cruicible of 4k was built in Sheffield I am sure it would be busy all year around with gigs and concerts. New venues always find it easier to attract acts. You could hire out the venue so the public can play a frame there to make it accessible to all. Wimbledon is a massive complex that's only on TV for two weeks a year, but nobody would question the point of it to be used all year round.

This year, there seems to be very few occasions when the players get a kick with chalk particles on the balls.
Is that because most top players use a different chalk ?

After needing 5 in a row to win, Higgins is making a game of it.

Virgo was right. Completely the wrong shot on the blue. He hit it far too hard, like he was playing for the pink he didn't need.

Yes in the last few years there has been the introduction of Taom chalk. It’s bloody expensive but it just doesn’t cause kicks.

Ronnie and Luca still use the old stuff though so their matches will still get the odd heavy contact and jumping object ball.
