That is a very accurate description of what I saw, albeit on tv. That article should be pinned up on the boardroom wall for those in charge to read in order to understand what supporters have had to put up with. Surely they are not that stubborn or dim to realise that something's wrong here. If it's true about the players not coming out or the ground being empty at the final whistle, or no fans running on to the field, then that, to me, is the ultimate embarrassment for the club and should hit the owners like a cannon ball. But it probably won't.
"struggled to create clear-cut chances and were easy to pass through when Shrewsbury did attack." I do think the high press made a poor performance look even worse and didn't suit the task at hand. For much of the match Shrewsbury's possession was broken down in their own half. But when they did get around the press Barnsley were exposed every time. Plus, because Shrewsbury had a rigid back six the high press didn't break them down at all, not helped by a seeming reluctance to get into the penalty area, back to the frustrating over-playing. Particularly frustrating because it was bottom of the table defenders and when the ball was played into the area, they messed up and Russell scored.
It’s all true about the players not coming back. No point as almost everyone had left. I was in an Exec box so was still there otherwise I’d have been long gone too not one attempted pitch invader Suspect that’s our last 5 figure home attendance for a while unless the opposition bring a couple of thousand at least
I didn't even stay for them doing the pitch walk. as soon as the whistle went I was off. a horrible end to a horrible season. the majority of players and staff should be ashamed. they seem to have finally worked out how to stop fans coming onto the pitch though.
Bailed out on 75 minutes to got to pub. Palace vs Villa on tv, some proper entertainment. Renewed my season ticket this morning, I must be doolally!
The club has given up Glorious sunshine and they couldn't be arsed to open the fanzone yet they then whine that they're losing money. Yeah, you're losing money because you're a appalling business people. For an entire season they've ignored repeated requests to comply with the law on advertising. I've raised the issue directly with high level club employees and I'm assured that the fab group have raised it more than once and they have flat out refused to comply with it for an entire season. They have destroyed the catering at oakwell. Used to have long queues now the staff sit twiddling their thumbs You need a telescope to find fans in the ground in TV. It's empty and it's because of them We have a complete waste of money for a carpark that is about a quarter full due to complete mismanagement of it and yet still they take no steps to improve it. It's caused by the fact we are owned by people with zero visible history of running successful businesses using family money to try to run a club they know nothing about
Im glad they noticed Cotter had a good game though, amount of times ive seen people saying he doesent resemble a footballer is amazing to me because he genuinely looked the one player capable and I do think he had a good game as bad as we were overall hopefully we keep him as a winger
They might have published a five-figure crowd but it certainly wasn't anywhere near that as far as I could see from my viewpoint near the tunnel in the WSL. Great yawning gaps everywhere and maybe 150-200 away fans? Mind you that small away following made plenty of noise once they went ahead, and why wouldn't they? As I've said often enough on here I'm one of the absentee fans these days although I have been to Oakwell five times this season - God knows why - and I've spent a fair bit on iFollow coverage when Sky+ was not available. Mansfield - rubbish defeat Northampton - rubbish draw Bristol Rovers - my one and only win Leyton Orient - good grief what an appalling visit that was! Shrewsbury - yet another dismal defeat. I started the season with a season ticket but I cashed it in mid-September after I realised I was both unable and unwilling to make many more trips this season, if any. Thank you box office staff for being so understanding. I'm afraid I'll not be buying one for next year but this is still my team, as it has been since 1962. It's just the club that has disenchanted me, along with thousands of others. It's going to take a lot to get us back again.
He just needs to see one of his wild shots fly in and then he'll be more confident when he's through on goal.
Oakwell was that empty on Saturday that I doubt there were 7000 home fans in the ground so to get you, him and 7000 others to head to the pub I was jokingly suggesting that you'd emptied the stadium and rounded people up from their homes to join you in the pub as well.
Barry is a real grafter, we need a few more with his character. Hopefully Conor and his new coaches can fine tune him a bit.
He said he renewed his season ticket i must be doolally .i replied you,me and about seven thousand others i would guess
I almost invariably agree with Doug O'Kane's analysis of individual games and the general situation at Oakwell. In view of this, I obviously think he's a very good sports journalist!
I changed my opinion of Cotter during Saturday's match! He looks very fit, is very enthusiastic, and he has exceptional pace. He certainly looked our biggest threat, in terms of creating a goal. I agree with you that we should keep him as a winger. He is not a defender.
7000 might be our average overall official attendance next season. I doubt very much that we'll have 7000 season ticket holders, though I shall continue to be one myself.
