East stand Lift

    Anyone know how you can get to use the Lift I can see in the upper east
    It looks like key access so most likely staff lift.
    However I haven't noticed it downstairs

    My Dad's knee is bad and walking up those stairs at 75 is going to be tough

    I've been in the East stand lower since built. And tbh never noticed any lifts bar the one in the exec entrance.

    But apparantly
    Due to the sloped land on which Oakwell Stadium is built, the rear of the East Stand is much taller than it is from the pitchside meaning a climb to the upper tier seating area requires many more steps than a spectator may anticipate, however several lifts are available.

    in my experience the club are not helpful in this respect. My wife had/has a bad knee but isn't allowed to use the lift :(

    I've only seen a lift to the right as you enter the main Executive Suite entrance. I think it's a service lift.
    If there's a fire it is shut down and anyone 'up stairs' who may be unable to use the stairs to get out has to wait for staff to come and carry them down in an evac chair.

    There is access to the executive floor.
    If you ask nice the staff will let you walk from the executive level to the upper level .
    Coming down you would have to walk back to the executive suite and get the lift down.
    They will or should assist with any disability.

    My father in law was a season ticket holder for over sixty years and for the last couple of years really struggled to get to his seat in the upper east stand

    The question was asked about using the lift but they weren’t helpful at all , in fact the response was so poor his love for BFC ended there and then

    He refused to relocate and gave up his season ticket

    Disgusting mate. What a way to treat a long time fan. Some of the stuff that's happening off the field is absolutely pathetic.

    My dad needed it and were told it wouldn't be possible to use, a safety issue, as he'd not be able to get down in an emergency.

    We ended up swapping our season ticket for the last game to the West stand mid next to the tunnel.
    Not a bad view to be fair

    Evacuation could be a problem I suppose as obviously you can't use a lift in the event of a fire.

    A mate of mine who was an upper stand season ticket holder was diagnosed with lung cancer in January. His reduced lung capacity made it very difficult for him climb the stairs so he contacted the club to request use of the lift. They said that he could but at a cost of £75 per game. Naturally he declined the offer. Sadly he has since passed away.

    In answer to your question
    The reason I'm led to believe that the lift can't be used, is down to health and safety rules
    Those rules state, that in case of evacuation of the upper tier everyone needs to evacuate via the stairwells as the lifts are out of bounds. So if folk can't make the climb they should seek help in the main office to relocate else where.
    This is what I was informed when we had the weststand fiasco whilst i was trying to sort out my elderly parents season tickets
