The former TGI’s unit is going to be a Katie O’Briens Irish bar. Primark is moving from the Alhambra and into the old BHS.
wow didn’t see the primark mive coming, do you know if that’s going to be over 2 floors then as I heard that the council were wanting to make the unit more attractive for letting so I’m assuming they are going to open up the building like it used to be
Also @Freddiel does this mean that Superdrug may live into the primark unit in the Alhambra? As I know they were looking for a unit
I’m assuming they’ll be taking the whole thing and operating over two floors. There were long term plans to demolish the building, but that was before the Health On The High Street initiative resulted in the wholesale changes to the Alhambra.
Possibly, but I think they might be looking to shift some of the tenants around in the Glassworks to create a unit big enough for Superdrug to move in there.
not sure what they could do with units wise unless they moved sports direct updates were boom bar was supposed to be and use that unit for Superdrug as sports direct has a tendency to be in upper floors anyway
I would say not the reason they are moving is the whole of the upper level in the Alhambra is being taken by the NHS, all the other retailers will be moving.
I know that but that’s only the upper, lower floor is still retail so Primark moving out leaves quite a large unit empty now
I’ve been in a few times and there is always people in, is it rammed? No but I think it does ok, downsizing the unit can only be a good thing though, smaller rates, located amongst the other food retailers and think it does ok on just eat etc as well
I have heard urban burger is moving to the smaller unit next to Nandos and the foot place is also moving within the Glassworks to make a unit big enough for Superdrug to move into
pretty much mirrors what Freddiel is saying, personally think it’s a good move all round the footbplace the dentist and the nhs hub all toghether alll retails units facing precinct and the food places alll together aswell
I think I’ve mentioned it before and if I knew who to contact I’d probably ask the question, but I think the one truck the Glassworks is missing is having a big screen located just under the Cineworld sign, the possibilities that would open up would I feel be great, live sporting through summer months Workd cup, cricket/Rugby world cups Barnskey games, live boxing, store adverts from the glassworks showing offers films upcoming from Cineworld events happening around Barnsley and even text to screen where people can send pictures and text messages to the screen. Imagine having World Cup games playing in the summer the footfall would be immense
I've also been saying this since it opened. It's a no brainer for me. Everything you have just said and there is no negatives as far as I can see.
