Saw it at a small cinema in Sheffield when it first came out. I've got it on DVD. I went to Pompeii in 2014 and could hear the "Echoes" pings as I walked round the amphitheater. (In my head :p). I saw the band in 1974 at the Odeon in Newcastle when they were touring with music which eventually became "Wish you were here" and "Animals".

I also saw ELP's "Pictures at an Exhibition" with Strawbs' "Grave New World" at the same cinema round about the same time. I bought "Grave New World" the next day after seeing the film, excellent album.

Grave New World - bought that after seeing Strawbs at Barnsley Civic

Pictures - got that free from Gloucester Library when they were disposing of all their vinyl

Seen Floyd twice. Dark Side tour at Sheffield City Hall 1969 ish. The Wall at London Earls Court in 1980.

A couple of great gigs that I wish I’d been at, but I think you’re a few years out with Dark Side, as they didn’t play that live till 72

You might be right - I didn’t check. I saw so many big names at the City Hall around that time the dates just get mixed up. Genesis, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, Uriah Heep etc etc.

I’ve got the ticket stubs tucked away somewhere and I do remember that during the late 60s/early 70s you could see top acts like this for around £1, or even less! I saw Rod Stewart when he was just a Face for a couple of quid in Leeds, supported by Long John Baldry.

Imagine witnessing Crimson doing “In the Court of the Crimson King” for a pound. Fripp’s latest incarnation would set you back a hundred times that, and more. Good as they still are this was the stellar line up for me with Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, Michael Giles and Pete Sinfield complementing the superb guitar work of Robert Fripp.

A massive well done to everyone involved in putting this on yesterday evening at Parkway, sound quality was fantastic to these untrained ears!
