I don't get to matches and invariably only watch as far as ,"Extended" highlights BUT , particularly when,"chasin back", players seem either unable or unwilling to get back, even lost causes are worth chasing as the player attacking may fluff their attempt at goal. One of the things that first pleased me about Michael Duff was watching on Ifollow , him have his squad simply running and running in pre season and him acknowldeging that they had, "barely seen a ball all week", HOWEVER they were still able to compete, 10 against 11 over 120 minutes at Wembley in the last game of the season. Can anyone who watches the matches shine a light on the perceived level of match ready fitness of this squad of players regardless of their skill levels or receipt of coaching?
Absolutely not. All season we have looked gone after 60 mins. No idea what we have been doing on the fitness training this year but it has been terrible. I think it’s an area that Conor is trying to address though. We’re not fading as much in the 2nd half anymore. Still a long way to go.
No. They haven't been fit enough all season. It must be one of our worst ever seasons in our history for goals per game conceded in the second half.
No they aren’t. Clarke wasn’t happy with the fitness of the squad & wanted his own man in to try & sort it out, instead the club got someone else in & I’ve not noticed any improvement in fitness since that happened around 3 months ago. The figures showing the goals conceded in first half’s & second half’s are an embarrassment.
It’s not just late in the game there just appears to be no desire at all most teams we play against their players are generally just more up for it. We are just too nice to play against.
Needs must. Every vote and point in his favour will push him up the bbs POY table. I reckon he's got his eye on both these additional prizes... Most Amusing running Style 5 points Best hair cut - 5 bonus points .
I think the stats prove that they can't maintain 90 mins. Don't we have the worst 2nd half record of any team in the entire EFL?
I'm not sure how much is fitness and how much is slowness but we have zero pace in the team that becomes more noticeable as the match progresses. Putting Łopata and the loanees back in the team isn't likely to help either.
Absolutely not fit...even if you have no pace, you should be still be able to last 90 minutes. Its clear its a massive problem area and needs a fresh look for the new season (said this previously)...pre season id have them down to poole for a week with the royal marines, it will be good for team bonding too.
I think the vast majority of them lack mental strength and fitness levels are nowhere near the level they were under Duff. DKD is the exception. Perhaps Connell although sadly his performances have massively regressed.
We do lose goals due to poor marking when not in possession. Teams hitting us on the break. As for goals conceded recently. Nowt to do with fitness. But cack defending.
It may be a confidence/technical thing because the amount of time we give the ball away is by far the most frustrating aspect of our game for me. Simple balls we cannot make is penominal.
