I think they turned it down a bit after a couple of tunes to be fair, but simply not needed. Folks go in for a pint and a natter.
Maybe TV volume (there was a live match on) but music? No thanks Dove

(Yes, I know they barely rely on catering, and yes, Poretti etc is £6, but offset by the £3.60 Carlsberg as a loss leader).

And LFC fans are captive customers, just like us, once in the ground. Not sure they would queue for Oakwell fayre, regardless of the difference in quality on the pitch.

The way they treat coaches at some places is appalling. Lancashire lot the worst in the sense of where you can and can't go. Blackpool 10 mile rule is an utter joke. And in the case of Morecambe away, local businesses crying out for custom but coaches made to go to Lancaster where pubs were absolutely rammed. Bolton, can't go within 10 miles.
By far the worst in the country because of the chief of police or MP.
South Yorkshire police are a lot more relaxed where Barnsley are concerned. Maybe not so much with Sheffield clubs.

There's no wonder folks are complaining about the racket!

No idea how they get away with charging fans a quid more than home scandalous

Was that the case mate. Illegal apparently.

A pub cannot legally charge more for the same drink to away fans compared to home fans. Licensing laws require fixed, displayed prices for alcohol served in specific measurements, and pubs cannot arbitrarily change prices based on a customer's affiliation. This applies to all customers, regardless of whether they are supporting the home or away team.

    This with bells on.

In the past I've often given recommendations to away fans of pubs to visit in town, but always codicilled it with hiding club colours in case you get funny bouncers. We've got a great town for people who like a drink (lacking maybe a proper craft beer pub again now) and it should be celebrated and encouraged to visitors. It's no wonder that we often get a bad rep if away fans only experience of town is a pint in a sports hall followed by a pint in the ground at £6.50. Trust people to behave themselves because 99% of them will.

Just searched "codicilled" on the forum and you're officially the first person to use it. Top effort.

I had to Google whether it's a real word, I'm still not convinced, but it's staying in.

Well it’s £5.50 in the Ponty about £5.49 more than I’d pay, this has been posted by several away fans so must be genuine

Hmm. What is the licenced premises though? Oakwell or the North Stand? As the stands are separate and not interconnected buildings, do have to be licenced separately? Would explain why there was no bar in the Ponte for so long.

If individually licenced then that law wouldn't apply, I wouldn't have thought.

We used to get in the Brewery Stand early as kids in the mid/late 70's and watch the crowd build up. The way you describe it is just how I remember.
That and a unique whiff of tobacco that probably wasn't healthy but I loved it lol.

I loved it and if I'm honest I miss it. I was about 13/14 when I went to stand at back of Ponty with me school mates I wish I'd have took them early days in more.

Yes, I often wish I'd taken things in a bit more but that's same with a lot of things in life as you get older!
Used to go with a group of mates in the Brewery from about 11 to 13 then moved over to the Ponty.
Definitely miss the feel that the ground and football had in general back then.
