And that's worth raising and tlaking about.
The Catholic church is one of the most powerful organisations in the world. So it needs some discussion too.

Struggling here......no probably not, but the unusually high proportion of them that are, would be hidden by those under the instruction of the bloke who just died

Struggling? You was the one saying there's Catholic churches in town so I took it as you were implying all the religion was the same. Abit stereotypical, be like saying another religion was all groomers.

You said the BBC is closer to home than the Catholic Church. He pointed out that doesn't make sense. He didn't imply that all Catholics were nonces.

I don't understand why is death has been such main stream news in England it's not a Catholic country hasn't been for over 400 years since we invented COE. We probably have more Muslims in this country than catholics.

The BBC did not "knowingly" bring us those three. In law the key word is knowingly.

Would you like to put figures on that to justify your assertion?

I would guess the numbers are probably fairly close between Catholics and Muslims yes.
I don't think it's a case if reporting the news to the followers of catholicism as much as its just considered big news.
Even as an ardent atheist I have to concede it's still a fairly big news item.

He spoke out against it on several occasions
Is he on record? Previous pope was shown to - this one spoke out against it and toughened up the laws

6.5% just under 4 million people in total just checked. And 6.5 million catholics making that the largest minority religion in the u.k. So not a massive difference.

    If I can help
In 2025, a significant shift is occurring in the UK's religious landscape, with the number of people identifying with no religion outnumbering those identifying as Christian. Specifically, 46% of the population report having no religion, while 43% identify as Christian. This trend reflects a long-term decline in Christian affiliation and a rise in non-religious individuals.
Of that Christian figure. protestants outnumber Catholics 16% as opposed to 14%. The rest made up of other Christian affiliations.
    Followers of Islam around 7%.
But more importantly for me is how many of those identifying a religion. Is how many are practicing their particular religion. Eg of those 43% identyfying as christians only 6%.

Didn’t hear the ‘fek the pope’ chant today, If that’s simply down to the ‘stay always’ then please continue to stay away.

Yes. He refused to expel several church officials when they were found to have committed child abuse. He only spoke out against anything when he was made to look bad in the media.

This weekend millions of Catholics have lost their Spiritual Leader.

We should focus on celebrating the life of this Great Man who amongst other good deeds championed the poor - criticised capitalism.

Pope Francis - Rest in Peace.
