Is he going to manage the team for about 60 minutes and then announce he's retiring from management to work in the club shop?
If he follows through on what he's saying ( changes needed, fast attacking football etc) I think ultimately it will be a good move . The alternatives ( another manager who has tried and failed elsewhere or a foreign manager needing half a season to get up to speed) At least we can start planning for next season from now which certainly makes a change!
That’s a bit disingenuous isn’t it? We don’t know what budget he has to work with. That’s set by others and out of his control. That being said he should still go.
I'm absolutely thrilled to bits!!!! Great news. Really looking fwd to close season and watching how he takes us forward because I do think that taking us forward is what he'll do. C"mon Conor lad!!!
I think I am happy with this. At least we now have a head coach with an affinity to the club rather some chancer passing through. Plus it’s a gamble for Conor, too, as if he fancies a future in management he has got a tough first gig working under these conditions. I would hope that last Saturday is the first sign of him negotiating himself a bit of freedom in his formations and style of play rather than having that dictated to him. Who knows, he may even have a say in this summer’s transfer activity. As with every manager, I wish him well but we will now renew our season tickets on the strength of this uncertainty being sorted. Good luck Conor.
This is the most commensensical decision the board have made. There has been noticeable improvement on the pitch already. They now have a coach who has time before next season. Next decision the board need to do is listen to what he wants and back him. Let him keep the players he wants to keep too. Let him tell Sormaz what to bring in and not the other way round. Whether the board will do these things is debatable. However, for the first time in a long time I'm praising the board on this one.
Get shut of Sormaz. Other clubs get someone in with a footballing background as Director of Football, we get a number cruncher in and change the title to Sporting Director.
