Like I said, maybe we could take advantage of his liking for the club & the fact that it is his first job.
At this moment in time the club have a fairly strong hand. He won't have other options, likes the club & is keen to get started on his managerial career.
We should try and put clauses & conditions in place that more experienced managers might not be willing to take.

I do believe that Connor will be a successful manager in the end. His self belief & work ethic will see to that.
Maybe that's with us, in his first job, but if not it will be with someone.

I can't think of one, was just pointing out that Connor is more ambitious than most.

We did mate , breath of fresh air after some of the dour stuff served up by Machin/Vivian in the previous year and half or so. The emergence of our yoof, Liddle, Eaden, Moses and especially Martin Bullock set the clubs revival in motion and fans who had drifted way started to come back and we went from at one point having less than 4000 turn up to selling games out ........sithi.

Presumably that applies to the fans as well as the owners.

I think supporters are allowed to dream. And, more often than not, their expectations are led by the club.

Dream, yes. Pressure the board into removing a manager when we hit a bad run ..?

Certainly see how the rest of the season goes .
Once he had chance to adjust things certainly seem to be picking up, despite the score we played some good stuff at Birmingham and last Saturday was really good.
His comments in how he would like us to play sounded really promising too.
As we have discussed previously he is very limited in how much he can change things at the moment due to the imbalance of the squad due to crap recruitment.
I think if he was to be offered the chance to work with a more experienced manager it would have to be a very good one or it wouldn’t work at all.
Personally if we continue to improve , given his playing experience, work ethic and what the players have said about him I would certainly give him a go. He certainly has the ‘name’ to attract players and keep existing ones that he wants.

But that’s the point I’m trying to make. It’s on the club to set the tone. It’s down to how they engage with the fanbase.

Here’s a great example of club comms from a few years ago:

The 2019/2020 season has been fraught with tribulation on and off the field. Through it all, our staff, players, supporters and community have continued to believe and fight, side by side. Foremost, this is a statement of sincere gratitude to those who pushed themselves for the betterment of our club. To our squad, led by Gerhard and his staff, thank you for your desire and passion to battle to the bitter end. We look forward to a bright future with this group in continuing the pursuit of competitive growth, as a Sky Bet Championship club.

Not enough can be said about the commitment of club personnel and those key workers who allowed us to return to play. Barnsley Football Club is indebted to your service.

Most importantly, to our supporters and the Barnsley community, your steadfast care for this club should never be forgotten. In the toughest of times, in a world unseen, our supporters were there for their club.

In the end we persevered to remain in the Championship. There are a host of reasons why Barnsley Football Club took the fight for safety to the last day. Mistakes made internally and on the field. As a Club, we accept the challenges of 19/20 that were our own and we must subjectively assess our performance.

I was much heartened by Saturday’s result and performance. For the first time in a long while I’m looking forward to Friday’s game. The job’s surely Conor’s to lose now.

Interesting communication that we've all now forgotten about.
We moved forward and bettered that the following year and all looked rosy.
Then we made a right dog's dinner of things.....

Didn't replace Mowatt. He's what made us tick. Just like we didn't replace Hourihane and Winnall in 2017.

We got 40 points in our last 28 games that season (11 wins, 7 draws, 10 defeats), and thoroughly deserved to stay up, after the disastrous start of 9 points in 18 games. Struber did a good job.

If the board are thinking about giving it to Conor and we assume that was the plan all along after he signed, then let’s do a Rotherham and get it sorted now and let the plans for next season get underway.

I've been preaching this to whoever will listen.
    1. Appoint Conor.
    2. Give him the freedom to:
    * set the playing style
    * clear out who he doesn't want
    * rebuild with emphasis on youth
    3. Give him time.
    4. Be patient.
    5. Engage with rhe fans by talking down top 4 / top 6.
    6. Engage with the fans by advising we're in transition.
    7. Lower expectations.

I agree with a lot of what you say pal, however and I will be renewing my season ticket, I want to hear Conor(or whoever it is) to come out and say he wants to push us up to next level, I want to hear about the ambition to get to top 6.
