Amazing . Not a huge golf fan. But summat about Masters pulls u in. Rory ans rosey brilliant stuff. One of the nrst day last Masters ever. Up and down, backwards and forewards . Great watch
Someone with more money and balls than me will have made a mint by backing SPOTY and laying him to win.
If that was a film you would be watching saying give over that would never happen. There's moments in sport where you know one day you will say I actually watch that live and that was definitely one.
Up there mate. but the Ryder Cup 2012 was summat else as well. I'm not a big watcher of golf. But the Ryder Cup is a must.
Think 2012 was the miracle of Medina? Yes, that would take some beating for drama. Golf can be superb entertainment.
It has to be said, whilst Rory regained his composure at the right moment and took his chance eventually - he still did his absolute best to choke. I think he can feel very fortunate that the only player who had a good final round amongst the challengers was a player who started the day 7 shots behind him. -11 is a very good masters score but how many double bogeys? Only two of the four rounds under par? Without inexplicable errors he’d have won by three or four strokes. The drama and entertainment was great - but he didn’t half make hard work of it in the last hour. That pitch into the water on 13 was absolutely mind blowing. He’d played the odds, laid up, left himself a nice steady pitch to leave a birdy chance and a pretty much guaranteed par even if it didn’t drop - and absolutely clothed it to the only place he could possibly have missed. I can’t imagine the pressure he was feeling though, it’s easy to talk about it from afar. At the end of the day he gets up this morning with a green jacket, his name carved in the one trophy missing from his collection, a lifetime exemption to be able to play at Augusta, and another $4million and odd richer - not that the money is a massive factor for him at this point.
Yes, the chip into the water was absolutely unbelievable. It seems when he tries to play safe he just can’t do it. On the flip side when the chips are down and he needs a miracle shot he somehow finds it. The Masters has been a monkey on his back since he blew a four shot lead on the back nine in 2011. The pressure will be off from now on and I honestly think he’ll go on to win a few more majors.
Pressure does the strangest thing to you he must have miss hit it. I was just sat watching it thinking you've gone right of that flag why all that room and the slope left and you go right you've blown if pal shows what I know.
Certainly 4 bad shots on the holes he doubled cost him 8 in total. Take those out and he's winning by a mile. 11 under is about 'par' for the Masters. There's been totals as high as +1 and as low as -20 but nothing unusual in his winning score. His two rounds were both 66. Only Rose had two better rounds this year (66,65) but he also shot a 75. Scheffler won last year with one round of 66, still shot 11 under. Greens were appear super quick this year.
He said afterwards that his chip was on a hanging lie and although he aimed further left it went further right than he thought. Certainly very poor for him, like the 18th. But he got away with them because he also played some great shots. Very unusual way to win!
