Watched this. itvX (news category. Calender documentary) Just a small insight into his life. (25 mins long) Dad a miner. Watching Barnsley fc a small side of it, a good piece on Tommy Taylor, both of them playing for Barnsley intermediates. Connections to Parky.and Boycott all 3 playing cricket for Barnsley. His undying love of the town Those with any Interest in autobiographies, I suggest reading his, a brilliant read. (Written for him by kieth lodge) Lots of humour. Especially in the Botham era. Imo, treat poorly at Yorkshire, although he wouldn't say so. Too humble imo over that period. 191 not out, dropped next game. I'm not so sure I'd have been happy about that. 80 odd next game, dropped again. I have read many biographys and this one, way exceeded expectations. About 20/30 yrs since I read it. But versions are updated.
I’ve never understood the vitriol aimed at Dickie and Parky, and others. Both have done their very best to remind the world where they came from. Some people just can’t stand seeing others doing well with their lives. It doesn’t matter where life takes you - jobs, family life, personal choice. You still remember where it all began.
Lovely bloke who will chat all day and have photos taken. Documentary is very good and sad when he says he gets lonely. He has always sung the praises of Barnsley. Top man is our Mr Bird.
don’t like the bloke, bumped into him in a bank some years ago, glared at me arrogantly because I was in front of him and wouldn’t let him jump queue.Big headed free loader.
