I think his lack of smile is just his nature. Today was the best he’s played for us. Not just the goals, he looked very sharp from the first minute and tormented them. Next season could be huge for him. If he starts next season well, the vultures could be circling very quickly.
So he should be too, fantastic day for him. I'd love us to get him super fit and with his ability he will be a cracking player for us.
I’ve not given him the best plaudits but he was great today so credit where it’s due. Obviously the whole team clicked and Bolton were awful so will take that into account.
I’ll be very surprised if he, DKD and Phillips are here next season. They’ll all have suitors and the club’s finances dictate that sales are likely. Wouldn’t shock me if some fancy a nibble at Russell also. Despite the opinions of many on here, he’s a very good footballer and has shone this year.
Yes. I’ve never seen him look fit enough before today. I don’t think I was alone. Today he looked a proper footballer who you can rely on to put a shift in. That’s the first time I’ve felt able to say that. The abilities not being in question it’s been the other side of the game. There was a moment after 63 minutes where he sprinted nearly the full length of the pitch to help Bland out & I thought we’ve cracked it now with him & then his second goal just topped it off nicely.
Finally seen a performance to warrant the hype. He was a joy to watch today. We now hope for much more of the same. They couldn't cope with him so fouled him. His second goal he had a few chances to shoot and it didn't make a blind bit of difference.
Like I have said previously players need starts before they can be judged and get upto speed. U21s or 23s football isn't competitive it's *****. 3rd league start. I
Imo We had other options going forward today. DKD down the middle. Humphries and Jalo out wide. And midfield getting forward in numbers all wanting the ball. Last time he started against Exeter. he was totally outnumbered every time he got the ball. And as we know, Humphries cannot play the centre forward role. Like he did during that game. That was our best forward line up today with players in their right positions.
I completely get that but I’ve seen other kids come into the team, take Bland as an example & he looks way fitter straight from the off. Hopefully this is it now & we’ll see him blossom
You could say stephen Humphrys isn't fit never lasts the 90. Same when Norwood was here jalos had 3 starts all season judge him after 30 odd like Humphrys
He's started 3 games all season all under conor. I'm not sure on hype but one poster on here said he'd be playing non league in a few seasons. Some of the critism has been unbelievable.
I've just seen his post-match interview and it's clear he speaks perfect English, so ignore what I said above. Odd though that a young lad only just out of the Academy calls the boss by his first name. Or maybe Conor has told them it's ok to do that?
I can see why some may have doubted whether he's got what it takes to do it in men's football, but I think his performance today should eradicate any doubt. This lad has real quality. The way modern football is though, we might only have a few weeks left to enjoy him. That performance today will have teams in the Championship at least sitting up and taking notice.
How many of us don't call their boss by their first name? Even as an apprentice and after I came out of my time I called my boss by their first name.
