    Speculation 1

Given time there becomes a European Superleague. The top 8 English clubs join the new two division league.

The English league is paired down to two divisions. The rest play in regional leagues. Where would we finish up in that plan?

Given the regularity with which we've finished in the bottom half of the Championship or the top half of League One over the last 20 years, I'd say firmly in the second division.

Remember when Phil Gartside proposed the two tier Premier League that we were excluded from (even though we were in the Championship at the time)?.

I think that tells you all you need to know.

When you said "The top 8 English clubs" I didn't realise you meant just from the Prem. Sheffield Wednesday aren't going to like this.

Based on all time points we rank 44th, so if 8 were to go to the super league that would leave 12 current PL teams plus 24 championship, I'd be confident we'd end up in the 2nd Div depends how big those leagues are.

More importantly, where would we want to be?

Money has ruined football. I think perhaps I’d rather we did play the local teams with local lads rather than in the big leagues with the funny money and the mercenaries.

The Champions League stuff I saw this week was out of this world. We would never come near to that. A good standard of football within our means would suit me.

Remember in the late 80s when Itv had coverage of the First Division (it wasnt the Premier league yet, at that time).
And Elton Welsby was the presenter, whatever happened to him lol.
Well the so called 'big five' then were Liverpool, ManUre, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Everton!.
And teams like Chelsea and Man City, were in the Second Division then.
    How times change ehh.

Stop paying average players money that clubs can’t afford. .

Thats football though. All the good players get snatched up for big money, or when they're young. Meaning clubs are scrambling for the scraps, best of the rest, so then they over pay. The cycle goes on.
