    The next ones going to have 48 teams I believe, which means there's quite a few new countries looking like they could qualify. Uzbekistan and Jordan are looking likely to qualify. Guatemala and Nicaragua have had a fair start in their qualification campaign, which doesn't include the US or Mexico. Cape Verde and D.R Congo currently on track to qualify too.

    We'll be back to when I was a kid, and I think Zaire, lost 12-0 in the finals.

    Thirty-two teams means that some countries miss out, but as the game as leveled-out across the world, the finals matches have been much closer.

    I dont think it was as bad as 12-0 lol, but El Salvador did get battered 10-1 by Hungary, in '82. :eek:

    Lots of games played in empty stadiums and with no one watching on whatever media streams are available by then.
    A few thousand supporters of countries that have rarely qualified will get their day out in the sun but for the rest of us it will be a dilution of the product.

    Assuming we still have to qualify, we can presumably look forward to games against the likes of Gibraltar, Faroe Islands, and San Marino etc
