A bit like the Tories claiming they'd brought inflation down from 11%.

You must have dug very deep to feel any sense of embarrassment for him. I took nothing but absolute joy in his climb down.

Worst example of a human being in my lifetime by some considerable margin.

There’s been no climb down in my opinion…, all stage managed and planned

His friends have got very rich this week. Literally manipulation of global financial markets in plain sight of everyone

he was even posting on his platform “a good time to buy”

It’s a massive U Turn which ever way you look at it. The man is insane and is losing all credibility as a so called businessman

Could a hammering in the mid-terms swing the balance against him?

So if this was the case all along, isn’t this a massive case of market manipulation? Would be interesting to see the stock trading patterns immediately before the u-turn. Didn’t he take to Truth Social the day before, saying it was a great time to buy?

No climb down or u-turn by Trump with these tariffs, it's insider dealing making him and his rich buddies money.

it’s a u turn, but a planned one. He hasn’t deviated from the plan.

Yes, but what is anyone going to do? He has presidential immunity and can pardon his mates. Could potentially even argue that it wasn’t insider trading as he posted it publicly.

It just saddens me massively, that people aren't able to see through what he is. Around 80 million people. More than the entire UK population voted for this man. Populism doesn't work for the people. Economies tank in pretty much every case. It relies on creating division, lies and misinformation among the most vulnerable. It's despicable politics fronted by despicable people.

I think his hair is turning greyer now actually, joking apart. Whatever one thinks of him (I loathe the guy) being President is a big job and he's not a whippersnapper.

I honestly wouldn’t worry. I could be wide of the mark but I would be amazed if it’s set you back a year or two. The market recovers very quickly most of the time. If you’re doing drawdown then it will recover as you’re drawing off it anyway.

The only way you’ll be significantly affected is if you were planning on taking a big lump sum out in the near future & I’d also suggest not dying as your values become frozen on death so it’s always a good idea to stay alive when markets are down!

S&P500 is down 7% this month and 15% in 3 months. I'm sure Trump's insider trading cronies are making money though.

He’ll almost certainly lose the house in the midterms, the republicans have a very slim majority. The senate is more difficult though.

Currently 53-47 to the republicans and it’ll be tough for the democrats to flip more than 1 or 2 seats, just because of which seats are being contested this year. lots of safe republicans seats. i’d expect it to be 51-49 or maybe 50-50 at best (where JD vance would be a tiebreak)

Am not actually drawing yet, still working but I was in touching distance. Sadly further away now.

I think I will take your advice on not dying though. :)
