They can shove it where the sun don't shine. I will NOT renew until I know what I'm getting, ie new coach in place and a clear statement of the board's plans and intentions at the very least. And if it's more of the same, or the Early Bird price has gone by then, that's another 2 tickets they've p1ssed away.
Free access to Samaritans. No renewal here. Happy to pay the full price should a coherent plan be put in place over the summer, which includes the ownership group taking their heads out of their ar5eh0les and identifying issues and remedying. EDIT: There is nothing wrong at all in a good bit of marketing (straw clutching) and I accept my comments should have been made in a "will you be renewing" thread, not in a genuine marketing thread. Still not renewing, as it stands ;-)
It's marketing. An extra incentive to buy the major product on offer sooner rather than later for fans that would renew anyway. Won't increase sales figures but will strengthen the bond with the club for the winners. We're getting all sorts wrong, but not everything is wrong, and this isn't. If you don't want a season ticket, don't get one. For those that are, and there will be thousands, this is a bonus. Hope whoever wins also gets to enjoy seeing the team win.
Fair play. Can moan all you want about the football side but I think there's definitely more output commercially and marketing wise over the last couple of years.
I don't really get why anyone would have a pop at this. I don't think it's gonna be a deal breaker for anyone, and I doubt it's meant to be. It might be a reminder though, for people intending to renew Early Bird who haven't got round to it yet.
I get all that, and I get Jay and Dyson above. There is nothing wrong with a bit of marketing. But in the current toxic climate, any post will get vilified, whether it is ST, Carvery, Cheltenham night. People will vent, even when it is unjustified. Because they have a platform. They could announce tomorrow we have appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to market the ticketing campaign; first responses will always be "should have done it in January' or 'What have Saatchi & Saatchi ever done for Barnsley".
It will be a summer of offers to try and get people to sign up, when all fans need to sign up is a team that will challenge for promotion.
I’ll settle for a team that actually competes and doesn’t chuck the opposition a couple of free goals every week. A few home wins would be good too.
Yeah, they’re setting themselves up for ridicule with some stuff. The post on the club’s X account yesterday was one example. Footage of training under the header ‘looking sharp on the grass’. Not great timing…..
Because the club will no doubt be gauging reaction here. So for me it's a good place to state my position.
