Is he ok? To me he just looks like a vey unhappy footballer. His body language, the fact that I can’t ever remember him smiling. I know he’s young but I can’t help thinking we're getting very little from him in relation to his reported talent. I realise it’s not a great time to be a Barnsley player, but you do at least see other players looking happy occasionally. Jalo looks like a loner.
I hope none of the players are happy were getting licked every week and there playing alongside players like MDG who seems to get a assist for the opposition team every week.
Maybe he’s ready to go back home. I doubt if there is much of a Portuguese community wherever he lives so I’m sure he’s missing the comfort zone that only speaking your own language brings. Maybe already been contacted by a club over there?
I don’t know if he’s unhappy or not but he seems to be slowly morphing into Mamadou Thiam. I can’t tell if he wants to be a footballer or Mr Universe.
By the looks of him he’s been well over Coached his natural ability has disappeared, no wonder he looks pissed off
Alot of criticism after 1 league start my god. He's 19 ffs. Then you have stephen Humphrys 3/4s of the season can't be arsed/ absolutely shocking. 2 good games and he's the 2nd coming.
He might be 19 but he’s a shadow of a player of what he was like at 16,over coached I’m afraid, involved in a poor team doesn’t help his own performance and I hope for his sake we sell and his new club can bring the best out of him.
I think he will end up getting sold one of the few assets with his potential. I think it's more the lack of competitive game time that hasn't helped him develop. Could say same about Marsh although he's a few years older. But again jalos had 1 league start all season he's 19. Flavell was poor yesterday and cost us goals he's also 19. I don't expect players to set league one alight at 19 few do.
Probably down to the mood at the club at the moment. Hopefully a reset in the summer will make a big difference. Jalo has loads of potential and I think he’s looked much more like fulfilling that this season when he’s been fit. I just hope he can stay fit because the lad has ability, I feel like when it clicks for him he’ll take off.
I agree with you on that but well coached 19 year olds do light up the Prem, I’m not going to look through all the Prem teams but I’m sure they are there and doing well. Our super stars from our academy seem to get institutionalised into the First Team.
Not been much to smile about has there to be fair. My take on it is this season was going to be a big one for him then Cashin went through the back of him in a bloody pre season friendly which led to him missing most of the season. Then he comes into a side who's confidence is on the floor and he's a lad who looks like he needs to work hard on his fitness. That will include game time but our poor option up front means he doing that in the 1st team. Hopefully he can play in a front foot team next season and we will see if he can fulfil his potential.
I think there's also a bit of fans expecting too much from jalo aswell. If he was 19 and setting this league alight he wouldn't be here long. Kieffer Moore was kicking a ball about in a very low level at 19 players don't reach there peak until 25-28 I don't know how jalos career will pan out but I'm sure he can have a better career than our experienced forwards at the club. I won't write him off after 1 league start and then coming off the bench against the best club in the league when we're down to 10 thanks to MDGiveagoalaway.
That’s because Prem teams buy up thousands of youngsters at a time, they’re bound to stumble across 1 or 2 standouts amongst that many, that doesn’t mean a 19 year old in league one is comparable.
You can't read much into a player's face. They're meant to be concentrating and working hard. Maybe even psyched up to battle. Plus, as others have said, not much to smile about when on the pitch. For me Jalo has been fine. We pin our hopes on him being more than fine in these desperate times. But he has been okay.
Jalo is a very talented lad that needs opportunities and support and if we can get him super fit the rest will then follow.
It is a pity that he is not Turkish. There must be a huge Turkish population in Barnsley (same in Didcot). How else would all these Turkish barbers make a living?
