Mine was 2 and a half years later lol, in season '80-1.
And speaking of firsts, this weekends opponents Wigan, were also making their debut in the Efl that season.
Who came up with us and Grimsby, was it Reading and Wimbledon.

It annoys me to be honest, seeing people in this area (near Wakey) with ManUre or Liverpool shirts on.
When some of them probably couldn't even point to where those places are on the map!.

My first time at Blundell Park was an FA Cup defeat in 1977. Next three consecutive visits also saw us lose, including the infamous 2-0 up, 3-2 down match in '82.
First saw us win there the season after. Phew.
Quite lively between both sets of fans too. At a League Cup game in 1984 someone set fire to a Grimsby supporter's van.

I do hope that, when we next play them, one of their fans picks up the corner flag and launches it like a javelin into the packed Barnsley end. That was such fun.

It is for me, I worked with a few Donny fans at the time and they were almost unbelievably arrogant at best. They really hated us.

Yep, lots of us kids did it the other way round. Liked big clubs until we were old enough to go to games at Oakwell.

Spot on, almost everyone at my school was a fan of a Division 1 club, with Leeds, Liverpool and Man Utd being the most popular ones. I was Liverpool up to my mid-teens but never went to watch them.Me and my mate Used to go to Oakwell both wearing denim jackets full of sewn-on Liverpool badges and a Liverpool scarf. You often saw Leeds and Man Utd scarves as well.
