I completely applaud a price freeze. Other than reducing prices which is something that obviously we couldn't expect then a price freeze is the best they can do. Will I renew? I don't know, but the price freeze is all they could do related to renewals to try to encourage renewals. However what I don't really understand is this sentiment that the club have done huge charitable thing by keeping prices the same and that all it will do is mean neerav etc have to fund us more. That's simply not true. They haven't done anything charitable at all. What they've done is seen that their customer base is unhappy with the current product and based on things such as the numbers of season ticket holders currently staying at home, the ill feeling in the stands and general discontent, they have calculated that upping the price would have been the final nail in the coffin for many people and would have resulted in a significantly lower uptake of season tickets which in turn would have meant a lower revenue not higher. It isnt a really kind, nice, thoughtful hand out to the fans. Its just common sense and bloody good business. Raising prices would have been a terrible idea and cost them so many renewals. That's my opinion on this 'oh what amazing people they are for being so brave and kind' reaction this has got. For me it would have been far more brave (and reckless) to risk alienating everyone by putting prices up and I'm glad they've shown the good business sense not to do so.
Can people please stop with the ‘everyone would have been happy with an increase’ comments? No, I wouldn’t have been, not just because of the rubbish football either but I’d rather not spend over £400 thanks. All these posts are doing are ensuring that prices go up next year. They’d have been out of their mind to do so anyway. If it put someone off renewing they’d probably find something else to do next season and may never renew again. You’re not just looking at one season’s lost sale but potentially every season going forward plus anyone else they may have brought. Attracting new fans to take their place is hard, especially when results are terrible.
Exactly. A £400 season ticket isn't a one off thing, if fans are treated right it's a lifetime commitment. I really find it quite bizarre that people have spent the last couple of months slagging off the business sense of our owners, the match experience, saying they're fed up of attending etc etc and then post "club should have put the prices up, but I'm happy that they didn't". It would have been commercial suicide to put prices up and everyone knows it.
https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...ress-on-safe-standing-and-fanzone-application All the increases are costing us an extra half a million pounds, so if you want a club still around to support and can afford a season ticket, now is the time.
No question for me. Just turning senior helps but wouldn’t make a difference. Currently at Wembley with an early train in morning to get back for Cambridge game then back to Wembley Monday. Signed up years ago and although it hurts at the minute still means everything. Probably change my tune at 7:30 breakfast but you reds. And come on England.
