I don’t think we have the players, particularly defensively, to adopt that tactic. My main criticism yesterday was not the lack of ability (this is Tier 3 after all) it was the lack of application and desire. Stevenage had it in abundance- we didn’t. It’s the Recruitment Team’s job to sort out the ‘quality’ and give Clarke something better to work with (and they have singularly failed in that role) but there’s still no excuse for the 11 that wear the shirt to turn in that kind of performance yesterday. Ps. I’m glad this thread has moved away from pilling on Watters. In the cold light of day it’s easy to see our problems go much deeper than one player’s performance on any given day.
Connell was playing like we were 4 nil up, flick and tricks that didn't come off. Gave it away nearly as much as Roberts who was similarly gash.
imagine getting one of those mattresses that come with a 365 night trial and you hardly sleep a wink for a year so take it back to swap it for something else and you bring the same mattress home again. Nuff said.
I think he's playing like a player so devoid of confidence in his striking ability that he tries to avoid being in the area as much as possible because he might have to have an attempt on goal which he thinks will go tits up!
Yer know if the players do indeed read this message board. Do you think they're the type to think fck it/em or, right I'll show them lot ?
