Also treating everyone as you would like to be treated in all situations regardless of whether you visit the same building on a Saturday/Sunday.
If the only thing making you be "moral" is the threat of eternal damnation I'd suggest you're a bad person to start with.
And if you think you can do whatever you like in life so long as you repent on your death bed, even more so. looking at you Catholics and anyone else who believes this.
Good point. Trouble is that nobody seems to bother with it. All we need is basic morality. It exists everywhere but is often sidelined by those who assume or acquire power over others.
Or those that desire power over others. Or those that are downtrodden by those with power over them. Power corrupts as we all know.
I make no apologies for calling out the head of an organisation who has covered up child abuse. The man's powerful status should not allow him to be above criticism or ridicule Surely you can't find the idea of calling child abuse out more offensive than covering up child abuse because as Tim says "If you look into your heart and tell me true, if this stupid song offended you with its filthy language and it's disrespect. If it made you feel angry go ahead and write a letter. But if you find me more offensive than the possibility that the pope protected priests when they were getting fiddly then listen to me, this here is a fact, you are just as morally misguided as that power hungry, self aggrandised bigot in that stupid hat"
I'm not sure why that is posted in response to anything I've posted. Anyway, as long as you stick to appropriate morality I don't care whether it's the threat of eternal damnation, the wrath of your spouse, the beady eye of the local constabulary, your more sober mate or even your local vicar.
Another famous person who did all he could to stop the left getting elected in 2019 who’s turned out to be a scumbag. There’s a common theme.
I dont think it's about religion per se'. But the cover ups. Preaching morality and trying to sweep it under the carpet. Yet non believers are going to hell apparently. The language is strong but the meaning appropriate. I'm sure the vast majority of people practicing religions are good people and are ashamed of some of the heads of the churches they worship in. The song is far less offensive than who it is aimed at. For Pope swap to Archbishop or any other heads of religion who partake in cover ups. It's those who should be going to hell if one exists.
I think the OP somewhat lacks balance. You might as well say, get rid of the Police - considering the number of violent and/or sexual offences committed by officers in recent times. But rather like the church, the majority of members are decent folk going about their lives and doing some good in the world.
From a post slating the Church of England for child abuse, your take is to take offence at a post slating the leader of the Catholic church, a church probably even more complicit in covering up abuse. I wonder why abusers seem to make a beeline for the god of their choice.
And yet, as soon as "child grooming" is mentioned, a different faith is paraded into the spotlight. They're all as bad as each other.
I would say ban the lot of them but according to Jehovahs witnesses, when that happens, armageddon is imminent .......
I've heard people talk about this thing called the Sun but I ain't seen any evidence of it in these parts
