Sorry if a thread was already created. (I dont know how to trace old threads bar sifting through all the pages.) But honestly I've just binge watched Series 6 over 2 nights. My sides are still aching. I was choking laughing so much. And with a chesty cough it hurt. I loved the fact that all the main characters were given major parts in different episodes. Their characters shone. Vinny has to be the most loveable rogue ever. With a heart of gold. The scene during the marriage ceremony I nearly died not even watching it. But listening, My visual imagination ran wild. It's probably not suitable for all due to some scenes and foul language. (Necessary imo) How the hell they film it without having to do dozens of re-takes I don't know. I'd never get through a scene. So if you've never seen it. It's an absolute must. But watch from series 1 you'll not regret it. Roll on series 7.
Steve Evets as Farmer Jim is probably the best character of the lot. His episode alone with his old flame is comedy gold, I was literally crying with laughter
Still got series 6 to watch, but the first 5 have been excellent. Funny as, but with a story that has you invested in the characters.
Fantastic series. Imo up there as one of the greatest British comedy series of all time. I appreciate not everyone will agree.
I enjoyed it until Season 4 but think it’s turned into Last of the Summer Wine with drugs and swearing Jim is still the best character in tv though.
I tend to agree with that. It certainly wasn't up to scratch with all the series episodes. One off specials of any programme seem to have that issue.
Agree too, seemed to be an episode just for the sake of making a Xmas one, with not enough time to do it proper justice.
Love the show, loved series six - though I’ll agree as far as it may not have been as good as some previous series’. Jim is excellent, hilarious.
I'd agree with the comments on this thread. Extraordinary quality of writing and one of those series that that has got better and better as the characters have been developed. Slight disagreement on 'best' character though. Jim is excellent but Davey MacDonagh - out of this world. He doesn't even have to speak to be funny. The gay version of a cross between Barry Chuckle, one of the Proclaimers with the menace of Malcolm Tucker.
Whilst it's reasonable to prefer certain characters. The portrayal of all of them is outstanding. Who else could have played Dominic Wests (Even if he's a Dee Dar) part as the Dr. I once read he'd have played him for nowt if asked. Just to be in the programme.
