It's just so stupidly irrelevant, isn't it. He's obviously rich enough to spend £100k every now and again on nice stuff. The only reason you'd possibly set yourself up for a fall like this is if you're cosmically out off touch. There's no other reason.
I still to this day cannot believe people were thick enough to vote Labour. The BBC said this morning that it was a protest vote, and I can only hope that’s all it was, because if people actually voted Labour because they believed they would turn this country around then they need their heads examining.
So far he's took off the oaps who have paid into the system all their lives. Released alot of cons and now this... can't wait for the budget.
At least the Tory bstards never disguised the fact that they were cnts. But this maggot Starmer is a very sleekit and dangerous cnt.
People need to actually start and read through a parties manifesto, and do some homework of their own before putting a cross in a box. Unfortunately, in our region people will vote Labour “BeCaUsE I hATe ToRiEs” and they then go on to vote for a party, in which they have no idea what their plans even entail. And if you don’t find a party you can relate to, don’t vote. Politics will have to face a massive shuffle soon as more and more young people are refusing to go to the ballots, they’re not interested and they’re disillusioned.
The tories were and are absolutely vile. They deserves kicking out and deserved to stay out for a very very long time. It wasn’t about hating them they were so useless and corrupt. I’m not a fan of Starmer and didn’t vote Labour but they are much better than the tories.
Do we really need to be hearing the bones of millionaires? Also the prisoner release was agreed and set up by the outgoing government. The one that closed 14 prisons while in office creating a massive issue. Plenty of reasons to not like Labour that’s definitely not one of them.
As are Labour, and they’re doing a damn good job of proving it after just a few weeks. Labours turn will last 4 years before they get turfed out just like tories did, in embarrassing fashion. I will however agree somewhere in the middle and say the options we were served up weren’t exactly great.
Is it wrong for me to expect the leader of the Labour party to think that maybe the likes of corporate sponsors shouldn't be an example to follow? Like I say, he's got loads of money. It would have been such an easy example to set, and the fact that he hasn't suggests to me that he just doesn't get it. Forgivable if you're a Tory, but this is the guy who's supposed to be standing up for the likes of me, and doesn't see why £20-30k here and there might be an issue.
Well if not Labour who did you vote for? I voted Labour because the candidate was ok - not outstanding - the Tory was a nobody bussed in, the Green candidate was a stand in because the original got offed for talking about transgender rights and the Lib Dem was a paper candidate.
I'm not saying we do need to heat the homes of millionaires am I? But the bar was set low many will be feeling the pinch plenty of others he could have gone for to get some money in... like I said get ready for the budget. You yourself criticised the targeting of pensioners only a few week back on here don't be a hypocrite.
How is this even legal? I worked for a software company and we were not allowed to accept any gift over $50, which years later rose to $100, in case it was seen as influencing a sale. To work with the US government, we had to setup an entirely separate legal entity, and the employees there were not allowed to accept any gifts, whatsoever. This is standard corporate guidelines almost everywhere, so why does it not apply to the UK government?
He's not covered himself in glory since becoming PM I'll admit. I do support his cutting fuel payments to all pensioners, it's too blunt an instrument for good imho. But all this **** coming out about pay awards and gifts smacks of turmoil within the party, if he was doing a cracking job there would be none of this stuff getting leaked.
Who'd have thought it? The guys and gals in the red dresses and ties are just as morally bankrupt, self-serving and callous as the ones in the blue attire....almost as if they're cut from the exact same cloth and voting one or the other is futile in 2024.
For sure - but then what do you expect when you've tried to purge a whole wing of your party and then boasted about it? Not preparing for the inevitable backlash is really bad politics.
He has not cut fuel payments to all pensioners. Those on benefits will still receive it. But it’s the fact that he and Reeves and all other MPs still receive their heating allowances.
