Spunked a load of money on Roberts and Hourihane to sell season tickets. Spiel about Hourihane joining coaching team with Stead and Devaney. Then bring in Whitehead. The club hasn't got a f cukin clue.
If i was in the ownership group and just had to pump in my share of the £3m out of the money i'd been given by my Dad/husband, I'd be very seriously questioning the need for several hundred £k of coaches only for the football leadership to do the sort of stupid shiit they've done in the last 2 games.
The club is a microcosm for me at the minute mate. It's supposed to be a release. I'm not naive enough to think there aren't others in my boat too either.
It's 100% a vehicle for me to vent/release too mate. But i also do think it is objectively pretty poor as well and that it is fairly clear we have an ownership group who aren't very good at what they are doing and the warning signs are flashing that they're spending a lot of money on football leadership who are also not very good. Either way I hope you're OK mate.
We’re at the start of a transitional period. Any dreams of promotion should be quashed immediately, & acceptance amongst the fan base must be realised immediately if we are to speed up the process. Whilst I’m not happy with Clarkes involvement so far, it’s vital we stick with him & hopefully he remains beyond this season, despite us more than likely finishing mid table. It’s about slowly building, & one of the main priorities is sorting the wheat from the chaff. There are too many players in the team who are not good enough & need offloading, with better replacements bringing in hopefully. Ultimately the whole mindset of the club & supporters needs to change. We are where we are, & it’s now our level, anything more is a bonus.
Can anyone explain why we need 5 coaches including the head coach? Seems complete overkill to me. Also, 4 of them were midfielders as players and 1 a striker so it might have been prudent to bring a defensive minded coach in at some point. the coaches I’m thinking of are Clarke, Stead, Devaney, Hourihane and Whitehead. There may be more I don’t know about!
Don’t get the narrative springing up that we signed them just to sell season tickets. Not first time in the last couple of weeks I’ve seen it pop up.
I accepted it after the playoff final defeat. League 1 is OK if you get out first time of asking. We're going backwards. Cadden kitch Mads Thomas Williams Isted/ Collins. None of our current crop would get in that team.
We’ve not that many more coaches. Head/Assistant/1st Team coaches has been the setup for years at Oakwell, along with a goalkeeping coach. And then we have Hourihane picking up badges and helping. Don’t see the issue really. I think we’ve been under staffed for a few years tbh. And now they’ve invested money into the coaching side, which is the right thing. Just look at Huddersfield’s staff list and you’ll see how far behind we’ve been.
This is my first ever moan about BFC on this site. 7 nil flattered us, it should have been 17, when casimeros out pacing Yoganathan, its time to take a serious look at the spread sheet stats, and alter them accordingly. ( Pace). The night Summarized, we had a free kick outside the box, my mate said, " is it too far out", my reply it would be too far out on the penalty spot. Worst ive ever witnessed, and ive watched some S****!!
Whilst the fans were vocal last night it was quite sad that even the humourous chants weren't actually that humorous. Sang 'we're gonna win 6-5' and 'we've had a shot' with sad apathetic acceptance of where we are at. Although we were in general loud and proud, I get the feeling toxicity is just around the corner. As mentioned ^ a plethora of coaches who will be on a pretty penny, yet even after watching us get done three times by losing the ball after patient, accurate build up, they proceeded to watch us do it 4 more times. 2 things needed to happen if we were going to play from the back like last night. 1) There had to be a plan b for when we actually approached the final 3rd. 2) A leader on the pitch should have been aware we might lose it and actually organised some cover. Garnacho would have had more people around him if he'd gone on a solo hike around the Sahara. Yes, DC seems a decent man, and we empathise with his backstory, but times change. Having a working class coach who demands a shift and says the kind of stuff that working class Barnsley fans like to hear doesn't cut the mustard anymore. We need some tactically savvy leader who can get the best out of the ***** he is given. He needs to pull it around quickly cos patience spans get shorter with every new appointment.
I think we're aiming to fill the west stand with coaches, Sporting directors, CEOs, players we sign that then don't fit in. For a club that's skint we're doing it with some swagger.
Said it loads mate. But certain posters seemed determined to pin it all on Hourihane coming back as a coach lol. Must have been mentioned 100 times now.
It is a weird set up. You’ve got a manager who the club surely rate yet he’s not got any of the staff alongside him that presumably helped him do a good job at his past clubs. None of Clarke, Hourihane, Devaney, Stead & Whitehead have worked together as coaches before as far as I’m aware. They’ll be learning about each other as much as they are the players.
