A condensed version of why it took so long for us to bring strikers in here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_fhp_aoLet/?igsh=MW85dTE2cmZvdnQwdg== Sounds like DKD was always the priority and that Humphrys was the foil we wanted to go with him, but didn't want to pull the trigger on the latter until the former was confirmed, hence why they both went through on deadline day despite being linked as early as July. Risky, but it seems we got the players we wanted.
Happy he's finally communicating through official channels and given an overview of the transfer window. Personally, I would have preferred for him to provide regular updates and reassure fans directly and not through the third parties like the Chronicle or behind the head coach throughout the window. I'm still not totally convinced by him but I thought it was a decent window in the end and we've given the head coach some good options for the first half of the season. I think it's going to take a few windows to get the squad truly balance and it would be good to hear more from him before the next window and understand his approach both in the short and long term. He's been at the club since the start of February and I don't think we - as fans - have had the chance to speak to him directly in that time. I think that's long over due.
Clarke had alluded to wanting 3 forwards. Maybe the intention was to bring all 3 in. We were first linked with Humphrys, albeit via someone ITK on Facebook a good month before we signed him, suggesting he was considered early doors.
Yep I suspect the Swedish guy was the third and final striker. Perhaps one would have left on loan had he come in. Sounds like bad luck that it fell through.
Good things come to those who wait.It was always about patience which some supporters don't have during the transfer window. Somebody on Twitter called Whitey (not ours I'm sure) wanted the board sacking JAQ to go back to where she came from,I think his tagline was "get out of our club" glad he wasn't speaking for me. Funny enough hes not been seen or heard since deadline day.
From the fact he said the DKD signing was dragging on that they had to make the other attacking signing around that.
Personally I think that the focus on strikers and signing two on deadline day has masked the fact that our defence is absolutely awful and that we've lost williams, cadden, shephard, lopata, cundy and lazy ones Styles from the defensive options and replaced them with just two players leaving us with practically no options and having to rely heavily on cotter, O'Keefe, earl and MDG who all had awful seasons last year. We appear to have focused everything on our attacking players despite our big weakness being that our defence has been like a sieve for a year
Not like you to see the negative side of a pretty positive window; however, W4 - D1 - L2, She'll be apples, mate!
I'm not wrong though am I. I'm ecstatic that we've improved our attack but I think we've all taken our eye off the unbelievably poor defence.
Big fan of the club doing such videos. I didn’t know Mlad too long, but he has great enthusiasm, seemed a positive bloke and I know he has a terrific recruitment team to work with. They know their stuff. It seems - on the whole - we’ve improved the squad that Darrell walked into. But any assessments are best saved for after game 46.
I think we've improved the attacking options but weakened the defence but that's by the by, I also absolutely love when they make videos like these because apart from anything else it's nice to actually see the human being and feel like a connection. Dany Murphy changed my opinion of him massively from one of his long videos and so did one of the other former CEOs who's name I forget. Having said that fatty Conway came across as an even bigger ***** when I saw him speak.
