To be honest, and not wishing to sound a clever clogs, there are only really two ways to fix prices. One is ‘market’ based upon how much establishments selling the same type of product, to the same type of people, in a similar type of environment, charge for that product. The second is ‘cost-plus’ where the seller calculates the total cost of supply, and then adds on a desired profit margin. I have no idea which model BFC uses, but from the reactions on here, they appear to have got it badly wrong. From memory I don’t recall ever buying beer at Oakwell, and I very much doubt I ever will!
Madri is around £160 a keg inc VAT. Some places who selll more will get it cheaper. they are making a lot on a pint, but if I was buying a pint in any pro footy ground I'd fully expect to pay around 6:50. I don't know why anyone is surprised. I find £3.50 for a packet of fruit pastels far more outrageous
At around 7:45, There was no-one waiting to be served at the beer kiosk next to gangway 4 ESL. I got a pint about 7:30 and there was about 6 people in front of me.
Reports from the away end, from Mansfield fans I've spoke to today.. Sold out of lager in the away end BEFORE kick off. Sold out of everything but Balti pies before half time.
Despite all your qualms about the price of this and that, I suspect that you would see quite a lot of people drinking pints and eating stuff before the game and at half time. I wasn't there but in the past there's always plenty being quaffed so the price doesn't matter to some. If you saw nobody drinking then the club has a major problem.
Never, ever bought food or drink inside the ground. Combination of laughable prices and not wanting to stand in a concrete tunnel supping gassy lager from a plastic pot. Eat before I set off, couple of proper pints in the pub, then to Oakwell. I never fail to be amazed how many folk are willing to stump up serious coin for the sub-par products on offer.
It must have been at least a week before someone mentioning us surely being relegated to league 2! Takes some balls to do it after just 1 game
Didn't have anything, probably won't at any point this season based on my experience from last season. Cost is too high, waits are too long, not enough product available. I'll spend my money somewhere that I can get what I want in a reasonable time frame with something approaching a decent level of customer service. Oakwell isn't it and hasn't been for a while.
£8 for a hot dog?!! £8 for a hot dog!!! I can get a real dog for less than that from t'rescue centre. People are having plonkers pulled here.
The food and drink outlets were noticeably quiet at half time, it was really weird. Every so often someone would walk up and get a pizza but that was about it. There were plenty of people down in the concourse but no queues.
Had a lovely day, today in Cambridge, most places by the river, watching drunken folk trying to punt, just under £6 a pint. A large Sauvignon was £12 tho, so she had pints too, what a lovely thoughtful missus I have.
