You're out of your mind. It was an idiot scumbag throwing punches because he thinks he's a big man. He wasn't trying to kill anyone. Kicking someone who is prone in the head is literally classified as using lethal force. Punching is not. The police's job is to protect public safety. If you think that is doing what that officer did.. I'm just glad you're not in charge. You seem to believe that dystopian Judge Dredd sh*t is good policing.
Why do those defending this Copper keep using the "if it happened anywhere else" defence? Are we saying that the standard of British policing should be based on whether you kneel on someone's neck for ages and kill him? The bloke acted horrifically and was correctly subdued using reasonable force. He was then booted in the head with something Jonny Wilkinson would have been proud off.
He was laid on the floor, shaking, hands by his side after going down like a sack of spuds. His mother had jumped down to try and help him.
How do you know he was trying to kill someone. I had lots of scrapes when I was younger and lost my temper, never ever did it enter my mind to commit murder.
It’s not retribution. He’s dealt with a situation that if he gives another moment the assailant would be up and attacking them again. I guess it will be judged by people who more clearly understand what and what is not acceptable more than I do but I don’t think it was.
Said it once and Ill say it again - the police guy was unprofessional. He is trained, he's doing his job as a policeman. The guy on the ground was just 'a guy' ( we could call him a thug if you like). That's the distinction. The policeman did his job to a point but then he forgot his professionalism and ended up being just like the 'thug' he'd subdued. I'm afraid that's not good enough for the professional in that scenario. Yes, the police have to put up with some utter crap and nasty low-lifes but they represent law, order, decency etc.etc. and have to maintain the highest standards even when they're under pressure. The police bloke didn't maintain those standards and should face some kind of disciplining procedure. Anybody assaulting policemen/women should be prosecuted.
Agree 100% - they have to show a level of restraint whatever the situation. They are professionals and have a certain standard to maintain.
Which would suggest to me that he didn't consider it a life threatening situation. So talk of the assailant 'trying to kill someone' is just nonsense, or I'm sure he would have been shot. Once tasered, and prone on the floor, the next act should have been to restrain him, could have dropped on him, grabbed his arms, get him cuffed. Taking a hoof at his head is not an option, then stamping on his head is genuinely indefensible.
He was tazered wasn't he and incapacitated - love to see the training where they are taught to volley someone's head when down. No fire present - gun holstered - at least that bit was right
Countries full of modern day Fanny's unfortunately. Those officers were under severe attack from someone that clearly had no respect for the law, yet it's the officers mistake under huge pressure which gets the headlines.
And the threat had been neutralised - job done! Looked like it was retaliation to me - that's the bit where professionalism should have taken over
Yup. We need to toughen up. This would never have happened in China. We should expand our police powers to match theirs. Can't see any possible downsides to that. Joking aside, If that kick had been lethal there would be no video released and, best case, we are facing race riots across Greater Manchester. That scrote becomes a martyr because a police officer can't do his job under pressure. Also.. Rather be a modern day fanny than a backwards c...
But we’re not talking about a dust up on a friday night up tarn are we? Did you ever take a run up and sucker punch someone in the back of the head? BTW punches to the back of the head can be fatal or lead to brain damage due to the location of key brain functions there - see that boxer - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prichard_Colón#:~:text=After a 2015 match with, state and unable to speak.
Can’t wait for the next time there’s a bit of bother at an away game and police hand out a few head kickings and stompings to restrained ‘lads’. Sure they’ll get full support.. First they came for…. etc
A punch is a punch. Wether from front, behind, with or without a run up. There isn’t a type of punch that proves your intent to kill more than an other - unless you’ve got a axe in your fist, and even then it’s not a given. Fights can get out of hand, but I’m sure People don’t get into fist fights intent on killing the other guy.
